The Magneto S version of the Ball Engineer II is much more appropriate and capable for military use, and really any use where high magnetic forces will be encountered or just a desire to chuff ones’ bits. Don’t let us down Teddy!

Ball's engineering amazes me. An automatic movement, shock resistance, anti-magnetism and even tritium in a relatively thin case? Why is Ball not more popular?

I actually disagree regarding the strap colour. I think it works absolutely beautifully if (and only if) you look at it as a military watch (as it was designed to be).

That's an impeccable watch, plenty of room to do a larger date window and drop the lupe. the way their trainmaster runs the date window into the center of the dial, one would expect them to let their classy lines of this watch be un-besmirched. I appreciate their thin lupe approach, but it always looks like a drop of water on the crystal from so many perspectives.

I like "sleepers" b/c they are not "in your face"-type of watches but provide great value. This legibility is fantastic and the stealth look-n-feel is exactly what I want in a watch. I'm looking to get a day-to-day watch from the BALL line up and this one fits the bill. Thanks for sharing this great discovery. I hope to have a BALL in my roster one day and I'd press the trigger on this one for sure!

That's a ten of ten watch for me, everything about it says wear it for life. Except the after-thought lupe. That lupe narrows viewing angle also, so it seems very poorly executed. I wonder if they sell replacement crystals without the lupe, and if an AD could swap it. that watch hits all points for me, crazy glue lens aside.

While it's certainly a durable and good watch, nothing on this watch really stands out as particularly useful for military, the lume is great, but a GMT function would be especially useful for going overseas. A NATO strap or cordura strap would also be much more fitting than a leather strap. It's just a very simple field watch with really good lume, and almost seems better suited for wear with ASUs or AGSUs than as a "military watch"

The ball engineer II is the pinnacle of watchmaking. It's suitable for EVERY situation. Goes with tuxedo. Goes with military gear. It's perfection.
@deejay15342 жыл бұрын
@@Diepvries11 saying it's the pinnacle is a big stretch. Ball themselves even phrase the specs to sound better than they actually are, such as 5000Gs of shock resistant which actually translates to dropping a watch from 1m onto a solid floor. Any remotely tough watch can do that no problem. The antimagnetic specs are also just ISO standard, which can be found on any rugged watch. And 100m of water resistance is pretty typical. The Spring Drive is a truly innovative design and far more accurate than an mechanical movement. Truly Antimagnetic watches like the Omega Rail Master or Rolex Minigauss exceed the ISO standard. Many other watches like Sinn put serious toughness and innovation into their pieces.

Such a beautiful piece, ruined by cyclops. Downright gorgeous, but that glue on lens always reminds me of a cheap aftermarket hood scoop that looks out of place. It would be better to just ship a pair of reading glasses with each watch so the artistic integrity and visual delivery of the timepiece is not impeded. We can do compound lenses for eye glasses, I wonder who will be first to come out with a one piece crystal that has in inside, machined out magnifier.
