It makes me upset to know that this game fell into obscurity in western regions. It’s such a good game that deserves recognition but doesn’t because it was poorly advertised.

I love the game, but I have to admit that they did it dirty and are continuing to do it dirty. I didn't see a word of promotion for it and I only found out about it because it came out on my birthday. I downloaded the demo, enjoyed said demo and bought it without a second thought. It's amazing, and the fact that they apparently want nothing to do with it is a shame. What I don't understand is why the update is apparently region locked? Isn't it the same game? However, the thing that set me off is the fact that that have the _nerve_ to use corporate speak when they're so casual with everything else. Like, seriously. "Nothing to announce?" Dude, it's a *free* update. How hard is it to update the game? I agree wholeheartedly with what you said at the end. The little guys need the same spotlight as the big guys. Sure, I'm glad that Nintendo took the time to get Splatoon off the ground instead of letting it die on the Wii U, but there's so many other smaller franchises that are still neglected, like F-Zero and Punch-Out. Same with Sega and literally anything that's not Sonic or Yakuza. If they just focus on their big properties, the smaller ones and their fans end up getting neglected and forgotten. It's just wrong that they're promoting everything else, and all they can give MRD is "We updated the game in Japan. We might bring it to the US, but we're not entirely sure. Buy one of the other games we're promoting instead." I'm still holding out hope that they'll bring it here, but this shouldn't be a thing that happens.

NISA didnt even acknowledge the game until fans literally ratio'd one of their tweets and forced them to say "hi there is an update but we arent bringing it to the western release until later at a date we dont know yet" its terrible

damn, america got totally snubbed on this game... i only knew about this game because of a retweet from a japanese twitter user a month ago and imagine my surprise when i found out that the game had been out for half a year at that point. didn't the official US limited edition come with a digital soundtrack that was missing a few tracks because of licensing or something? i heard about that somewhere online and the only official way to listen to all the music outside of the game is to buy the japan exclusive soundtrack CD, which if you're not buying from nippon ichi themselves, it's gonna cost a pretty penny... for now, i just think licensing the new music is why they aren't putting the update out *now*

I remember seeing the Japanese trailer for the game when it was first announced. I thought it looked great, but since there was little to no English information on it at the time I forgot about it for a while. A few months later I randomly found a let’s play in my recommended and decided to get the game. I’m so thankful I did. It’s a great experience and I still listen to the soundtrack on a near daily basis. I hope one day it gets more of the love it deserves

I only found out about this game thanks to NCH Productions. He's been making a Mad Rat Dead mod for Friday Night Funkin, and one of his community posts that showed Rat God caught my attention, and that pushed me to look into it more. I found out it was on the Switch, I downloaded the demo, loved it, bought a physical copy of the full game, and loved it even more. And then I found out that this game that I loved so much was getting an update, and grew more and more impatient for it...only to be let down that there was no known date for when it would come to the US. Now, I have a *Dark Fear* that it won't come to America at all. I also have *Some Kind of Hope* that it will, but I won't be surprised if that hope goes down the *Drain.* Seriously, NIS had better be a *Neo-Opportunist* and bring that update over here, or I will be forced to officially declare them a *Heartless Being.* (Eh? See what I did there?)

honestly i REALLY hope this game comes to steam soon, especially considering a *certain* rhythm game that's only on pc, it feels like a great match as a rhythm game with a unique art style and an amazing soundtrack and could even have something like steam workshop support were you could include custom songs(i apologize if i got this part about steam workshop wrong as im not too sure how it works), i just really hope something like this comes out again, whether it'd be dlc for the game, a sequel(not too sure if it'd happen) but i want this game to succeed so bad

Oh yeah fucking Hán made rythmn game. Yeah this would be good competition for it. I don't acknowledged hánland made games due to the territory itself and the human rights violations it is associated with. I just want Madratdead PC PORT. As I don't want or get a console to play for an indie game. None of my games are on console! So why should I buy a ps4 or switch just for it. Also online play sucks on console. Paying for internet multiplayer for one device is a big turn off for me.

Great vid, and I agree with it all. One more thing, Skill Up, one of my favorite reviewers, seems to like rhythm games, if someone has the money, can they send it to him so he can review it? Not just Skill Up either, any other popular KZbinrs that have an open review box can also help greatly boost this game's notoriety especially popular Let's Players like CoryxKenshin for example. He's enjoying Friday Night Funkin, so maybe he'll definitely enjoy Mad Rat Dead and it's story.

I first heard of MRD when the English release announcement popped up on my feed on Twitter and I thought it was gonna be one of those shovelware games with a almost nonexistent fandom but after I saw a few people get talk about it, I decided to get the demo and eventually the full game it’s honestly such a fun game to play and enjoy and is one of my favorite games (it also got me into my second favorite musician, Camellia!), but I guess it got shoved to the side because it was too “quirky” for westerners or something I guess if that was the first thing I thought when I saw the marketing, they could’ve done a lot better

To add salt to the wound, they're selling the 3 disc soundtrack separately now, but it only delivers to Japan. I'm personally going to use a proxy (White Rabbit Express is pretty good is youre interested) to get it, but that fact I have to use a proxy for it is disgusting. There's other MRD merch sold by Nippon1 too but again, you have to use a proxy if you're outside of Japan. It's a shame games like this fade in the West. We might have the update now, but it's just sad to see a decent game die

Wow, this got 424 views over the last 9 days and I just found about this. This is why I'm really sad about Mad Rat Dead's popularity being basically zilch over here. Friday Night Funkin is basically our Mad Rat Dead which makes this even sadder about how it got over shadowed over here in the states. This also gives a slight more inspiration to go to the more popular news videos and make a digital soapbox to talk about there are other kinds of news and games out there to talk about besides the big games. In fact one of the best ways to know about new Indie Games is to look at the Channel Best Indie Games. There are other games out there besides the big companies and their screw ups or complaining about people bringing up bad ideas that are more harmful to the creative industry than they think.it will help. But as long as no one isn't talking about smaller projects like Mad Rat Dead, then I can also share in the worry about the future of new games or even smaller good games made by the Japanese.

Man why does the west hates rats? I'd say the only difference between indie and this little original properties is the fact the later have the back up of a studio level bugget, sadly this studios don't seem to care about these enough and when they're given the opportunity of flourishing they're casted to obscurity. Indie is basically this developers wanting to still put sth fresh out there but sadly there's just so much an indie can do that success is basically catching lighting in a bottle. Go play MRD maybe we'll eventually get a pc version.
