I don’t think this is a traction engine,it looks more like a portable steam engine. These predate traction engine’s,they were dragged into place by horses. They drove thresher’s and mining equipment,as they were probably much cheaper than a traction engine. Nice little toy though,should be interesting to see it run.

Yes, I agree but it does have grooves for a drive band, which then makes it self powered and hence my description being "Traction Engine" and not "Portable Engine" . . . . .

As per the very early traction engines - drive from flywheel to rear wheel by chain. Just missing the ships wheel for steering.
