Your ability to self-grade and then fix up defects seems unmatched. Congrats on this! Beautiful book.

Good job identifying and fixing the problem Jim. The comic looked great. I figured it was a 9.8 because it's always a little better than you say it's going to be. Thanks for the video showing you work on the book. Those are my favourites of yours

Thanks for showing the process! I love your videos but this was a true peek behind the curtain. Nice job and congrats, one of the best Doom covers!

In this case we wanted to pay attention to the man behind the curtain. Fun to watch Jim do his magic.

Nice work. Yeah I've loved that cover since I was a kid. The whole secret wars art was excellent. A movie will never do that series justice.

Another masterpiece. I suspected it would get the 9.8. I kind of told myself that a perfect book is a 10.0. The little crease on the back left it open for a marginal defect. I knew it shouldn't get any less than a 9.6 with a pretty good outside chance at 9.8. I'm glad for you and me that I was right. LOL. Instead of a keyboard warrior, I was a keyboard judge on the outside looking in. Way to go Jim!

I have a copy of x-men 221 with 3 printer creases, none of which are over 2" long, 2 of them are probably 1.5" long. Rest of the book is great looking, can that keep me from getting a 9.8 though?
@johnnydropkicks7 ай бұрын
What exactly do you mean by “printer creases?” Do you mean that the paper was creased prior to printing?
@BigMoneyGripMCV7 ай бұрын
@@johnnydropkicksi guess so. I saw examples in the cgc manual and it's the exact same. Super razor thin folds literally, so i guess prior to ink hitting the page? I'm really not familiar with the steps but on a facebook group someone said to leave them, because if you "fix" them you could reveal no color there.

Printer creases are not supposed to affect the grade.. but I think if they are severe, a grader might cap the book at 9.6

If you said that it had one small un-pressable defect, then how did it receive a 9.8 grade? Just another example of how CGC mis-grades books. I wonder how much business you do with CGC and how this affects the grades they give you? It also helps if you do videos like this on KZbin to help sell CGC's BS.
@ImproveCollectingComics6 ай бұрын
I guess the defect didn't exclude it from 9.8. I mean the book was pretty perfect otherwise. And I am not a CGC fan, they are just a necessary evil right now.. I hope other grading companies at least equalize with them soon

These videos have zero suspense. We all know it’s going to get a 9.8.

Not all my books get 9.8... I would of still published it if it got lower
