I'm almost 12 years sober and it's the best thing that I've ever done for myself. It takes time to get used to it, but the benefits far outweigh the anything alcohol gives you. Your health, finances, decision making and confidence (just to mention a few positives) will vastly improve. Stick with and I wish you all the best. I'm now a sub as I want to follow your progress and how you embrace sobriety.

I’m newly sober too and trying to figure out how my social life and holidays will shape up. I’m feeling sad that as a society, we don’t feel like we’re enjoying ourselves unless we’re drinking. I’m determined to free myself of this. I’m going to restaurants that it would be too expensive to drink and get taxis to, I’m going dancing, I’m going to gigs and remembering the night. I drove a 600 mile round trip to see my daughter at university and had enough energy to go for a country walk and go out to a gig with her, and still had energy to go to work when I got home. Alcohol was limiting my life. I’m amused by people’s reaction to me going sober. I’ve been called boring, people have told me not to contact them until I’m back drinking, and others assume I’ll be their taxi driver. Only one friend has congratulated me (and she’s given up too so knows how good it feels. ) Keep it up, Claire, and keep posting your adventures and stories. Xxxx

Well done for doing a sober solo holiday, you should be really proud of yourself! Most people couldn't even do a solo holiday, let alone sober as well. I'm a single mum and I was sober for 3 years, but I started drinking again during the pandemic. I'm not happy with this so I am going to stop drinking again. I'm 50 next month and going to Gran Canaria with my daughter...it will be a sober holiday 💖 good luck, glad I found your channel! Ps the '90's festival sounds amazing!

Four hundred and eighteen days sans alcohol and more than two years free of hardcore drugs. Being an addict is a 'Thanos Snap' away from losing everything: Health, loved ones, self pride, penniless, homelessness. I received my comeuppance while I sacfificed and managed to save enough for my dumb-ass to go on a 'Two Continent, two country, twelve city, solo backpacking misadventure to Spain (Europe) & Morocco (Africa) in twenty-one days. I learned about life, culture, self-importance and above all a relief that I am finally enjoying a sober life. To all my fellow addicts Believe in yourself, have faith and never ever give up. Well done for going on your first sober holiday. I also had my first sober holiday in January of this year to Lanzarote. It did make me think about choosing a different type of holiday in future, maybe somewhere that i can pay more attention to well being rather than partying which is what i used to do.

It's so wonderful how well you're doing. You must be really ready for this new chapter. This change could be really magical in time. Are you reading? That could be enjoyable. Maybe in the future focus on English speaking areas or places that hold a large interest like perfume? So that you have more to do. Resting, walking, the beach and just taking care of yourself sounds lovely. Enjoy. Sending lots of love ✨

Interesting I started to prefer vacations alone when I stopped drinking it’s not that I mind being around my friends who are drinking which we all do are you I used to do in abundance on vacation or on holiday but it’s just boring to be there with. it’s just so loud and people get, you know that you can’t hear it’s not fun and I love being on my own being able to do whatever I want sleep as late as I want stay by myself walk around nude. I love it so much better and then I can meet people for dinner and they can do their thing and I can do my.

I also had a solo holiday to Tunisia. I rarely drink so dont dont relate to that aspect. I advise to be cautious of your personal safety there. I had a few moments with unwanted attention.
