As a military wife with a husband in the army that has 5 deployments under his belt, this brought tears to my eyes, I am blessed to have him home this year, last year wasn't so blessed, this reminds everyone who sees it the sacrafices that soldiers and their families make thank you, God Bless and Merry Christmas to you and your family and anyone else who knows exactly what this is like.

Every time I watch this I gain respect for soldiers even when the respect I have for them is already thru the roof! Thank you it brings back memories of my brother who died while in service he once told me that as a soldier you experience things that would make normal people breakdown and cry but we have to keep going even though we might not see our families and friends on holidays we are sacrificing for the safety of our country on his grave w e chiseled his favorite phrase you lay asleep soundly in your bed because there are people abroad ensuring our safety remains,thank you

This hit home for me because I lost my dad in Viet Nam when I was 8 and when I was old enough I followed in his footsteps and I was proud to do that. I remember my first Christmas away from home as a young soldier. Now, I am lady veteran and the daughter of a Dad that gave his all for us to be safe and have many more Christmases in a land of the free and the home of the brave. My husband is soon to be going of on his first deployment... We've been together for a few years and married for two... This brought a lot of peace into my heart and erased all my many fears... Thank you so much for posting this! I heard this poem on the radio a few years ago and almost had to pull over and cry. My brother may not be in Iraq but he is not home either. He is currently in Japan and this song just makes me miss him even more. Just thinking of this poem makes me cry. I cry every time I listen to this. I served for 5 years in the Army and been to both wars. I just recently put up my christmas tree and all my presents wrapped. I can not help though to turn all the lights off, and the only lights on are the tree lights. I listen to this. It is so easy to take simple things for granted. All I hope is that some how American's can find hope instead of being negative. Sure things are not great, but we have had hard times before. Please American's for this Holiday all I want is hope not negativity!

GREAT AND AWESOME video. I too am a Veteran and I have been down and out, homeless and hungry. I have a pension now under $1,000. a month, a house to live in which needs much work and there are time towards the end of the month when I wonder what I will eat, but somehow I manage. I am proud and humbled to have served and would gladly do so again if asked.

this was amazing thank you for posting. This Christmas when me and my family sit down to dinner there will be three empty seats set but not touched as my family serve on the ships and subs of the US Navy, and on the ground with the US Marines. This is the first time I have heard this and it brought me to tears, I pray for every solider and sailor of our forces, and end it thanking them. Thank you again for sharing this.

This made me cry and my dad is a Navel and marine veteran he is home with me his family and he has been Retired for I think 13 years he served for 17 years 3 with the marines and 13 with the navy he was on the ship USS KERSARGE and the USS Normandy he is still alive today and I respect him every day through out the years and I love him and I am so thankful he is here with me and my family today I am 16 years old and just by hearing this it makes me happy so thank to all soldiers

My grandfater served US Navy, my father served 22.5 years US Navy, my cousin served 5 years US Navy, my brother-in-law is current US Marines, recently returned home from Afghanistan with the 1st Battalion 5th Marines.
