Really well documented and entertaining video😍. There are so many things to learn in this video, and you seem to take a more cautious path with them, which we like. 1. Check the weather all the time. 2. Don't wander away from camp without your day pack. 3. Make the most of the calm weather and add on the miles. 4. Never underestimate the lake. I loved the video. Much appreciate you sharing this trip with us😍✌.

It honestly makes me very happy to hear another paddler say that. Thank you 🙏 Every day is a chance to learn out there.

I love Pukaskwa! Absolutely magical country, I did the Coastal Trail last time and can't wait to get back with a canoe so my knees can get their VENGEANCE for all that up and down on the trail lol

The little bits of the trail that I walked were intense so I can imagine how hard that must have been. Beautiful, but RUGGED country!

Epic my friend. On my bucket list but I don’t have the ⚽️ 🏀 to do it in a canoe. The Sea Kayak for me 😊
@WindWaterandPine Жыл бұрын
Thanks, Derek. The sea kayak is probably the preferred vessel for that lake, I'd say. But I don't own one of those yet and I wasn't going to let that stop me...

As soon as you said you paddled 160km and hadn't seen a single person, I knew exactly where in the world you must have been. My husband and I paddled Lake Superior from Hattie Cove to Michipicoten 2 summers ago and we felt like it was the most remote, beautiful and epic kayak trip we ever did! We went back last summer and plan to go back next summer. It just that kind of place that keeps calling us back. I'm going to take the time and really enjoy your video and savor every little part. Congratulations, Lake Superior is one heck of an amazing accomplishment.

Great video. Watched in its entirety over a few days. You did a great job capturing the key moments and your monologues were interesting to hear. Full respect for taking on that shoreline in an open canoe; solo no less. Looking forward to your next adventure. 👌👍

Thanks. I appreciate you watching it all. I find it's always a tough balance between how much of myself to put in there vs just pure scenery. Believe me, there's so much more that didn't make it in, haha. It was a rewarding and challenging trip that I won't soon forget. I hope you enjoy my future videos 👍

About 20 min in and will finish this over the next few days. Really enjoying it so far and wondered about your “Rosey fingered dawn”. My favourite use is Nick Nolte character in The thin red line. He actually uses the same phrase in a different movie. I know I could just google it but why. It’s a conversation, man. New sub!
@WindWaterandPine Жыл бұрын
Thanks, man! You actually nailed the reference bang on. I love that film and in it he's actually quoting Homer, who often describes the Dawn as being personified with "red rose fingers" (In Greek mythology Dawn actually was a goddess, and now I'm deep diving too far...). Thanks for the sub and glad you like it 👍
@beachcomberz Жыл бұрын
@@WindWaterandPine Yes, Homer. He read it at the Point (in Greek!) There’s a few from that movie I use. When my kids are acting up I tell them to stop acting ‘like punk recruits’ or if my wife says I was right, I tell her that she doesn’t have to tell me I’m right ever. “We’ll just assume it” Now that’s a deep dive!

Enjoyed watching this. An area I plan to check out sometime in my life. I feel like the amount of calm paddling days you got was unusual. I just know how hard it is to find good paddling days on lake erie, I thought it be worse for Superior but you seemed to make out not bad till the end. That is awesome!
@WindWaterandPine Жыл бұрын
Thanks, Nathan! Yeah, I feel like I had a decent weather window for the first half and then was fighting it more towards the end. Crazy trip though. Would love to hear about Erie sometime, maybe over one of those Temagami COTS bonfires? Happy New Year!

An epic adventure and I really enjoyed watching it. I respect your appreciation for the land and the beauty it holds. You do a wonderful job expressing it with words and video. :) Superior is on my bucket list and hopefully some day I will make it there. I thought it was neat the way you referenced Peggy's Cove. I only know one of those and it is in my neck of the woods in Nova Scotia. If this is the one, it surely looked a lot like what you were seeing. :) Thanks for sharing your canoe trip! :) :)

ITS NOT YOU. I paddled the same route this summer, had a reservation at the Simons Harbor paddle in site and spent two hours in the cove trying to find someplace to land and set up a tent. I finally gave up and paddled up to White Spruce instead.

Yeah, there's clearly nothing there where it's supposed to be marked, but there are a couple little spots on that cleared rocky peninsula where camps have been set up in the past. The map could use an update.
