Thanks for the love on the video...sorry I'm behind on comments but covering some FAQs here: *-Why no fishing?* We were too busy hugging the shoreline to examine the rocks to troll/fish. Also because of rough conditions at times, using the sail, trying to get somewhere, etc. And these days I don't like to fish if I'm not in a position to keep (in case the fish is injured and can't be released). Some videos will have lots of fishing, some may have none. If I include the word "fishing" in the title or don't, that is your best clue for how much fishing to expect. *-Why not use Thermacell?* Xander has one and they work, but I have my distrust for anything bug-killing (if used in a closed space like a tent you'll see them dead on the ground) and it's one more thing to bring, however I definitely would have used it at the last site on our trip *-Knee injury:* Some limitations but getting pretty solid. Better all the time with physio. *-Who makes that sail?* Wind Paddles and it's the adventure mode I believe but I don't know where to buy it or if it's still made *-When are you getting married?* November *-When/where are you moving?"* Hopefully this fall but we're waiting for the right place. We're staying around Lake Superior but closer to Erin's fam.

Jon, I believe that you have crossed the threshold from vlogger to filmmaker. Your last two videos are truly exemplary. When I think about your work the best word to describe it is balanced: balance in introspection and observation, balance in safety and risk, balance in wilderness advocation and 'preachiness'. And always, always your tone and storytelling hit the right balance between bravado and humility. In this last video you have accomplished what few vloggers have. Somehow you have immersed us into an experience that is shared between you and your bride. We are not just observers. The immersive experience can sometimes be felt while watching the videos of solo canoe trips, but is rare indeed to experience it while watching a tandem pair or a group outing. Jon, well done!

Look up the channel for nova pbs. Their latest documentary spends some time at about the 20 minute mark on some of the geology of Lake Superior and its shores. Volcanic rock on parts of the shore line stretches 30 miles into earth. Superior used to be, for 100s of thousands of year, a highly active volcanic site. Lake Superior is a very special place.

Seeing all these Eagles...just days ago Justin Trudeau was in Alberta and met with Native Chiefs. The Chiefs gave Trudeau a plaque with the name WALKING EAGLE. He was all smiles as he received this gift. Later on, hours later, a reporter asked one of the Chiefs, why did you give Trudeau the name WALKING EAGLE...Native chief says when an EAGLE is so full of 💩💩💩💩 , it can no longer fly...hence WALKING EAGLE. Great adventure to watch. Your videos are just off the charts.

Many thanks again to Shaun Cumby of Ontario for sending us the sail (it's amazing). For the record, Shaun is a viewer, not from a company...this channel is independent (supported by ads YT plays, Buy Me a Coffee patrons, and a bit of merch). But since some of you will want to know, the sail is by Wind Paddle and Shaun said it's the "adventure mode" model I believe, though I don't know where you can buy it. I think it's intended more so for kayaks but it has two clips that we attached to the bow thwart and Erin controlled it with the upper line. It would be difficult to do solo but it's amazing for tandem. Easy to deploy and collapse, weighs little. And the new tent is the Seek Outside Cimmaron. Paid over CAD $1000 to get one (with accessories) as opposed to similar ones for much less made overseas so I'm a bit disappointed with the design and durability so far...for that price. Hopefully it will perform better in winter as a lighter alternative to our canvas tent.

I have used a similar sail solo with an expanding curtain rod, a clip to the lines you hold to the top of pole then run a back stay from that clip back to your float vest!!! When you extend the rod, you can trim the sail in place so you can paddle steer! I still recommend a falcon sail or Balogh Sail Designs because they allow up wind sail paddling!

Jon I remember in one of your videos you explained that you didn’t believe in feelings or random beliefs about God. I want to tell you that I recently found your Channel. In a world filled with such division and hatred, I am so greatful that I can celebrate such strong reminders of the proof of the beautiful world God gave us. Im 73 and am blessed that you and Erin bring the parts of his beautiful world I have never seen. You are in God’s world. Up close and personal. He brought you the perfect soul mate. You are both so blessed. Thank you for making this widow’s life so happy by letting me celebrate his world up close and personal. Thank you both so much. ❤❤

Hi Jon and Erin. Don't worry about answering any questions I may have as I believe the answer occurred later in the video. At 11:21 i noticed a contraption with water, perhaps a filter and another bag holding water. I decided you were making sure the water was good to drink. The never ending cliffs were wonderful to see and watch you investigate I love each and every silhouette shot especially when you are watching a sun set leaning on each other. But also loved your paddling silhouette against the cliffs. And I have meant to comment on Erin's beautiful paddle. Gorgeous. Glad you two have found each other to share in the challenges you face checking out the lost lakes. Cheers,

Every...single...aspect of your video production quality is some of the very most impressive I've seen from someone who does not do videography for a living. Your shots. Oh man, you get the shots. You must expend a million calories getting so many set up every day and then canoeing Lake Superior...and they have such wonderful contrasting elements in them. Depth of field. Little panning. Just wow. Your editing. Superb. Shots are not too long. Not too short. Goldilocks. Audio? Amazing given the background noise elements you have to deal with. You should be studying film....or just showing everyone in the conference room these videos to get your first big time nature doc produced outside of YT. Could easily be on Discovery.

What an amazing trip all shown online. I currently live in Florida, but came from Michigan. Makes me remember all the great trips especially in the Upper Peninsula. Would love to go back up north and do it all again. Everything you showed was excellent (mosquitos being the exception). You both put out a very impressive video. So beautiful... I would be glad to see more of your adventures.

A truly captivating video. You wouldn't by any chance have coordinates for the underwater dock/boat debris would you? Also, here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan we can find what are called locally "yoopoerlites". They have patterns that glow under blacklight. Superior agates are found here as well. All near Marquette. MI. It's fascinating to me how this huge area is geologically the same. Thanks again for the great trip.

This was such a beautiful film, a wonderful journey. Yes, so many emotions it is therapy for the soul, healing for the heart, and may even help heal my wounded knees. Sure, through your inspiration and determination. I tore 2 ligaments on my left knee and one on my right in September 2021, it's long story. As for the mozzies, well better the devil you know and can hear. Black flies are so sneaky! Thanks for taking us along. Congrats on leaving your job Erin, lol. Maybe you all will come and gather agates on Haida Gwaii one day? Cheers!

Wow... Out of words, again. That night shot of the tent and stars and its music with it? - Wasn't prepared for it, but it shooked my heart really hard, in a fantastic way! You're a master of outdoors videos. Please, never stop 😊 Takk!

An otherworldly experience caught with genteel care and introspection. The music choices this time around aren't just appropriate, they are evocative of the videography taking us further than just the vision of the sights. They take us deeper into ourselves, our wonder of being amongst places like Superior. Just fantastic you two. So glad you're feeling better John. Be safe you two!
