Thanks for the reaction! If you ever want to come back to Tangerine Dream, please try the song "Remote viewing", from their album "Exit" (1981). It's only 8 min. long, and it has two parts in distinct "styles", which I imagine can do well as a representative sample of what they do.

they have that kind of sound which is why they've scored over 60 films

Them making film soundtracks makes so much sense. I could totally see this in a film.

If you wanna react to long electronic pieces, I once again recommend Autobahn by Kraftwerk. I know you haven't been the biggest fan of their work, but hopefully you enjoy it

You're doing a ''Brutal week'', now doing Tangerine Dream, Blood Incantation new album features Tangerine Dream... Coincidence? I THINK NOT!

btw, that 'static yet constantly moving' approach totally describes so-called Berlin school of electronic music, and that's what I like about it. "Floating music", as someone said about Klaus Schulze. It's also similar in some ways to minimalism and post-minimalism.

Heard this one dozen of times. At night, know them for quite a long time ! A sonic depiction of the desert.. love it. Reacting to the Berlin school / Electronic music is quite rare, thank you. A lot to listen too, not only TD, K. Schulze is also a big piece.

18:55 sounds like Offermose (berlin school)

While Green Desert is important for die hard fans, it's hardly an optimal entry point for newcomers. Then again, Tangerine Dreams' output is so massive it's simply impossible to point out one obvious place to start. For me the album Force Majeure was what blew my mind back in 2008 (I had tried some TD in early 90s, but despite of finding the music interesting and haunting, I wasn't fully ready for it), but it could have been so many other things.

Stratosfear might be a good entry. Force Majeure and Tangram too.

I'm only really familiar with their output in the 70s and 80s, but in my mind they go alongside Hawkwind and Brian Eno (when he's in ambient mode). All three often create what I would call musical soundscapes rather than songs, though each has their own unique features. Personal favourite TD albums include Phaedra and Underwater Sunlight.

I hear Tangerine Dream, I immediately go to long ambient pieces that work well in soundtracks. Some very seminal pioneering work in early incarnations as well. Are zey German? lol Must admit, while aware of Green Desert, this is my first listen as well.

Nothing on Green Desert came from 1973 - it was a fake contract filler (like Live Miles). Solid album

2:50 this is ambient but has terrible ambience and i couldnt put it in the background because it doesnt elevate any emotion or thought id otherwise have. 19:00 they have some great moments and great songs tho. gotta appreciate the first ones to do it

Green Desert was initially recorded in 1973 and left unreleased, then heavily reworked and finally saw release in 1986.

How do you request songs?
@CriticalReactions2 ай бұрын
I have a LinkTree link in the description box of any video. In there you'll find a link for Special Selection Submissions. There's two links, one for Paypal and one for Ko-Fi; both are the same but some people like one platform over the other. Requests are $30 for a single song that is less than 30 minutes.

Much like Fabio Frizzi, their soundtrack from “The Keep” was way better than the movie it was featured in. Also Phaedra is a good listen.
