I wish the curator didn't talk about Esther like she was a child, but otherwise this looks like it was an amazing project. I wish I'd known about it while she was still touring.

also how the video says he DISCOVERED her, is just racist colonialism to me.

@@inpsydout Many artists were "discovered." It's a common term. Stop trying to turn this into something it's not.

@@michaelgarretson9605 it's not turning it into something, It's analyzing it from the point of view of the culture. It naturally doesn't suit your views, perspectives and privileges in this world. She wasn't discovered, because many people already knew her. It's an ethnocentric perspective. Just like when Christopher Columbus "discovered" "America", which had a different name and there were also millions of people already living in the land. Nevermind they'd been living here for thousands of years before their lands and culture were pillaged, and destroyed through force and violence, because it was seen from the perspective of colonialism and conquerors; the culture of the "savage and wild" people was less important, "undiscovered", and thus it was alright to destroy it in the name of theirs. Also note that I said, specifically, in my comment, that it is like that for ME. You can argue that from the colonialist POV, they were actually discovering America.. But from their point of view, they were saving people from being in nature and being savage, just like it happens to date.

@@inpsydout If you ever get a contract, and promoted for a talent, you will be listed as a newly discovered artist. Musicians "discover" new artists all the time...

Why are we surprise of this lady work. We are creators and builders. It is because we were stripped of our knowledge, why we are lost today. She does not need measurements to form, it just comes naturally.

The curator is Caucasian. Why am I not surprised? Feeding off of black people's suffering and talent is what they do best

Not only black people, eh? Every other people too. Natives, specially.
