A South Pacific Playground | Episode 220

This week's episode finds us sailing from the island atoll of Tahanea and into the beautiful famed South Pass of Fakarava for its famous shark diving. We have four friends with us who we get to show around this place that we know quite well from the year before. We show them some of our favorite spots above water as well as several below the surface as well!!

What a totally, out of my mind, groovy episode. This video captures the exotic island life. Quit your day ;job, become a beach bum, sail the world and drink lots of rum. Fun with family and friends, what could be better. Remarkable underwater filming. Swimming with hundreds of sharks and no one get a bite. How it that? I hear humans taste like chicken, and we all know sharks love chicken.

As of yesterday I caught up on ALL your videos. I started watching in ‘real time’ at episode 176 and as I kept up with current ones, I also went back and started from your beginning. So cool to have seen them all now but must admit, I will go thru a little withdrawal not being able to watch episodes 25:42 I hadn’t seen whenever I wanted. Not sure once a week will be enough now!

I once saw a dive where they "chummed" those very sharks. The sharks got just a wee bit over excited and even bit and jerked off a fin from one of the divers ! It was a really close call ! Wow, your sure lucking out with weather for the crew. The minute they leave you'll have another one of those monster squalls ! Such a crazy atoll with a in/out at each end !

Man, the scenic beauty of the South Pacific area is so beautiful. When I get my boat, that's the number one place for me to visit. It's not just the beauty of certain locations but for me it's also the people along the way that create memories and the lifestyle of cruising. Hopefully I can start my catamaran build next summer as soon as the economy starts to improve. I'm sick and tired of these high prices and it's preventing me from affording a boat.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR HEALTH INSURANCE? Sorry if i shouted but have asked this many times. We want to get long stay and have run into the health insurance issue and wonder what you do. Love your sailing. Did you ever go to Tikihau? See the ‘Garden of Eden”? I hope our travels will overlap. We are not far from getting on the road.

Hey hey! We bought a supplemental health insurance for Warren only (since I have a French passport I don’t need to) but we bought a travel insurance for the duration in FP to get the long stay visa. It came to something like $500 for the year for him. You have to make sure the insurance company who you go with send yours you a letter saying you have coverage in FP

Great. That sounds easy. We will research along that line. Seems much better than seeking ‘boat insurance’ with health coverage. The long stay requirement won’t allow any ‘government backed’ insurance programs (Medicare) and you have to have coverage for medical evacuation up to 30K$. Possibly this is because we are in our seventies. I sure do hope you found Ahe’ again. You deserve to experience more of Kamoka@@WEsail
