I met Ken Hensley when he was with Blackfoot at a record store meet and greet in Nashville back in the mid 80s. He did not seem comfortable in that context but I talked to him one on one and recalled the time I saw Uriah Heep in Nashville back in 1973 and what a great band they were. He signed my copy of his first solo album "Proud Words On A Dusty Shelf." It hangs in a frame in my office to this day. Thanks for a big part of the soundtrack to my life Ken. Rest in peace.

6:00 - I love that album cover. I saw Uriah Heep w/ David Byron 4 times, I believe Return to Fantasy was the last tour. I would snap up their latest album as soon as it hit the shelves of the record store. I was a Uriah Heep fanatic, and after all these years, I still listen to the early David Byron years. One of the greatest tragedies in rock was for Uriah Heep to lose David.
@joeyhumphrey45367 ай бұрын
I am jealous. I saw so many bands in the early 70's but never got a chance to see the Heep. But, thanks to you tube, I am seeing & hearing so much now. David's voice was the voice of the Heep. There is no replacing David's voice!
@jameslanclos5687 ай бұрын
Uriah Heep was my 'signature' band, if you will, like Black Oak Arkansas was my friend's Gary's signature band. Unfortunately, UH never recovered after David's departure. I read that Mick Box went to his house and tried to talk David into returning to the band. I still listen to UH's albums and videos every now and again, but only the Byron stuff.@@joeyhumphrey4536

He was driven to be a Superstar in that time and he focussed on that. And he was a genius...He did push everything forward in that Band and he and David got jealous about each other. He was getting most of the credits, because he wrote most of the Songs. But drugs came with the Fame and that put him in trouble ...and the band too. My opinion is: no one did write such good Songs and lyrics in the Band.. BUT I think , the Band gave their Best, to make his Songs Rock Songs
