You are truly gifted Joel. Your work is beyond amazing and watching your pieces come to completion has been such a blessing. Thank you for sharing your gift. Most of all, thank you for sharing your love of Christ and for being open and willing to publicly stand for Him. I too am first a believer and follower of Christ, and secondly so grateful to have the privilege of being an artist attempting to honour God with what he gives me. God Bless you.

Check out the video I did about a year ago describing the varnishing process. I'm also working on an updated video to explain a few small changes I've made. Thanks!

hey Joel! been so fun to watch your videos and get inspired again.. in school was the first time i worked with charcoal, and fell inlove. My final project was on four biblical characters if they had tattoos haha all black and while with the background being black, similar to your style. So it has been cool to see your process, as I would have not thought to use canvas, but think i'll give it a try! I wanted to ask about your process to do prints. I am assuming your photographing them? What is your process? Thank you for blessing many people with inspiration, as I do believe creating gives us a glimpse of our Creator. Blessings!

Hi Amanda. Thanks for your comment! I do photograph my originals to digitize them. It's the least enjoyable part of the process, but I make it work. I set up my dslr camera close to the canvas to get the detail and photograph the artwork in a grid pattern. I then take the grid images into Photoshop and stitch them back together to create a high res digital art file I can send to a printer. I'm considering doing a video showing the process, but there are others available to watch on youtube. Hope that helps. Thanks!

Hi Joel, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talent! Can I ask if you use cotton or linen canvasses as they look smooth :) thanks!
@JoelPilcherArt Жыл бұрын
I believe they're cotton. I buy my canvases from Milo Art Supplies. Thanks!

Does the acetone effect work on paper too or more for canvas?
@JoelPilcherArt Жыл бұрын
It does, though the effect varies a bit.
