the spin and 1st stall were by the book, during the second stall however the "semi-inverting" was caused by the pilot pushing the stick momentarily in the wrong direction, ie. forward instead of backwards. you can clearly see this at 1:02

Absolutely correct Lee. My reflex action in a stall was always to push the stick forward. This was the first time I'd ever done a deep stall that inverted the glider and my reflex action let me down! I realised my mistake as soon as I'd done it and hurriedly corrected, but I'll admit it set my heart racing at the time!

@@soaringkeith9718 Yeah, steep stalls will see the glider go well nose down, especially with forward input on the stick during the stall. it looks like the glider did not pass the vertical but the negative G sensation probably made you feel like you were going to fall out of the cockpit. glad you recognised the incorrect reflex response, that can become critical if you are operating near VA or VNE.. this video was posted sometime ago so hopefully you are well passed this, always good to fly aerobatics though, teaches you to be comfortable with strange attitudes and sensations

Wow! Please post in spin and corrective inputs. Didn't look like you had to hold opposite rudder to recover from the spin? What airspeed did it spin at? Scary because I didn't see any buffet before the stall? Your deep stall at very high AOA, it looked like there was some delay in the control inputs... Very unsettling.
@jameskarran53307 жыл бұрын
Is that second stall not just an accelerated stall caused by pulling back to regain a level attitude before there was enough airspeed?
@soaringkeith97187 жыл бұрын
No, quite the opposite in fact. The trained reflex was, when stalled, lower the nose to recover. Unfortunately, when inverted, pushing forward on the stick only made matters worse! I learned from that experience!

Most training 2-seaters behave very different. They will hardly react as „agile“ as this Schleicher one-seater.
