Thanks for sharing Petr! I am glad you are ok. The best way of learning is to learn from others mistake, and it takes courage to post a video like this. I guess too many pilots never would not have posted it so all respect to you! There have been pointed out many things in the comment what you could have done better and most of them are correct. From the sound of your sigh at the end there i guess you already knew how you performed straight after landing. Please keep posting videos and fly safe!

@@Dzordzikk It was very marginal. His airspeed was just above stall. He had no airbrake deployed at all. VSI was very negative on the turn to final. Glad he solved it, but that was NOT in the slightest a safe outlanding. Just lucky. PS, I've made worse outlandings myself, WITH damage, so no pride here, just experience.

Once you have a candidate landing field I recommend your circling not exactly over the field, but a little aside so that you can better evaluate ground inclination, presence of obstacles, like poles or wiring, fences, etc. A good landing but could be done in steeper descend with speed control with dive breaks, for more accurate landing spot.

Aimlessly flaundering about, no planning and a poor approach with bad or no speed control. First, learn how to react to what you feel and hear, reacting to your vario is too late as the instrument has a 3 to 8 second delay. The vario is only there to confirm what you hear and feel. Then plan the search for the thermal. The cone shaped hill close by is an excelent thermal pulse point. Last, when you get to the altitude were your pattern and approach plan start, execute, and no straying off the path to find lift. An safe outlanding is a valuable lesson which makes you a better pilot, AND you get the chance to fly again tomorrow

I had a scary first solo just last week. During aerotow we went through a huge rotor vortex and I got nervous and disconnected from the tow plane. While flying back to the airport at pattern altitude I encountered a lot of wind shear. I flew my downwind leg in a headwind causing me to lose a lot of altitude by pitching down to keep my airspeed high . I flew a very uncoordinated base to final and overshot the runway and then bounced the landing three times. Scariest day of my life, but I’m lucky to have kept flying the plane and kept my airspeed up. A video of my solo is here kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpWbdqaAjKtgq6c

I don't understand what most people are criticizing here. I mean, yeah, the pattern could have been a little better but other than that everything was good. If anything he was a little fast. Being so fast he was in no way too low, the trees were no problem at all, as was the truck. There was a good 3m hight seperation from the truck, which is all you need (and really can afford) at this point. He could have gone for a little longer final, with less speed and a steeper sink slope, but in the end everthing looked safe and he handled the situation well.
