There used to be an old Waterfront station that existed before its closure in 2009, when Sentosa Express was still at its infancy. The closure was to make way for a bigger station, now known as Resorts World, which opened in 2010.

Grew up with OG monorails that run through most of the beaches around Sentosa..with private-like cabins where if your family is big enough..and cabin doors has no windows and get to enjoy the wind and nature from station to station

as a local, i can confirm waterfront station is built. trains do stop at the station but doors do not open. when it was dismantled, trains still stop at the station location, but doors do not open (kind of scary since you are stopping in the middle of nowhere, with only some scaffolding still standing as the station structure is completely dismantled).

As a millennial who went to Sentosa via the Sentosa Express several times during the construction of RWS, the alleged original Waterfront station you mentioned was never built. I had never seen any signs of station building in that tunnel. Were there plans to have it roughly where the tunnel was at the early stage of planning, yes possibly. But it never started construction.

nice video! but i highly feel that waterfront was definitely planned due to the presence of space for an island platform when initial construction began? if not it wouldve been a side platform today
@sbs2828s11 ай бұрын
yea it was planned, the question is whether it was actually rebuilt and demolished 😅
@STANSAT10N11 ай бұрын
Yup, I can also attest that the original waterfront station was built and then later demolished, making way for rsws. The station was in the middle of nowhere on top of a grasspatch and some surrounding forest when the line was first opened, similar to the Punggol LRT West Loop before the surrounding development. It was a memory one could never forget for how creepy the atmosphere was from a child's pov. - I'll also say that the planners definitely did not account for the possible influx of people for the modern era as the monorail even back then held quite the crowd. Today, it's beyond over capacity and would definitely need a major upgrade. Even more so now, due to all the redevelopment sentosa is going through, I don't think the new sentosa tram system would be enough to handle it.

I find this interesting because I don't remember this at all. What year was this?
@placeholderblankspace9 ай бұрын
Comments seem split on whether the station was built or not, though most lean to it being built. All I recall was when it was finally being built there was lights next to the track where the train would stop, but I don't remember seeing the old station itself ever. My memory fails me since I wasn't even 7 at the time.

was there an older line at Sentosa that stopped? or a Mrt line that has stopped in Singapore mainland?
