Lovely ladies to hear from! Hilarious the hatch deal too. Now, every boat, whether wood, fiberglass or Steel, has its own disadvantages and pros too in terms of hull integrity.

Without water tight bulkheads a steel boat has zero reserve buoyancy.

Their boat is on a mooring bouy in our bay. Haven't met them yet but have been admiring their boat for a while. I will check out their channel

The hatches are supposed to face that way or they will collect the spray while sailing , maybe you should stay on the land with idea's like that !

It’s one of two ways that you can do it and both have pro’s and con’s. More boats have them facing the other way. Telling people they should stay on land because they want part of their boat to work differently for them is a bit extreme. Hatches generally should be open when you’re in sloppy seas anyway.
