Great stuff brother. Good to see someone from Sri Lanka making quality content in an area where information in Sri Lankan context is almost zero. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Nishan. Quick q: are UT dividends taxable? If yes, how can we calculate the amount?
@NishanDeSilva Жыл бұрын
If you withdraw your earnings, it is taxable. I guess the individual tax brackets apply here.

Hey bro. That was a great video first off. I I've got a question. How do I know how much my total redeem at a certain period is? Assume I invest about 100k in FD I would know I get a percentage as my return at maturity, but how does it work on unit funds. How do I know I get this much at the end of six months let's say if I wanna redeem in six months. Hope you answer me please. Thank you in advance.

That's a great question Arjun. Unlike in FDs, there's no guarantee in the return when it comes to units. When you look at the returns of past months, you should be able to get a fairly good idea about the return you can expect. But keep in mind that this can change based on the fund type and multiple other factors. It ultimately boils down to one's risk tolerance. You can invest in units "expecting" a hire return than FDs. If you don't want take that risk, you can invest in FDs at a lower interest, but a guaranteed return at the end of the term. Check out this video to learn more kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqGrd5qimq-hnbM

Is there any risk on investing in unit trust when considers the current economic crisis and the increasing of usd rate in Sri Lanka ?
@NishanDeSilva2 жыл бұрын
There's risk in any investment during an economic crisis. There's no easy answer to this question. You need to look at the underlying assets of a unit trust fund. If there's a risk to default, as in not pay back for the fund manager, the fund can lose money.

Why did u select income funds
@NishanDeSilva Жыл бұрын
Because of the asset portfolio. It depends on the fund category as well as the wealth management company. Always look at the assets in each fund.
