Hey Tom- my name is Trip Martin I’m 74 and I’ve been collecting bottles for 60 years! I have a collection of about 500 bottles, none of them junk- all before 1900, and many rare bottles- including the earliest black glass Hostetters, a Champion vinegar, a t-x-s morleys hair tonic and too many others to mention except for a few late 1700’s gin and case bottles! Anyhow, my question is this- why is it you hardly ever find square tonics or bitters? Seems strange! Please let me know, okay? Thanks! Love your videos and keep on digging! Your friend- Trip Martin.

Just for thought, I've taken the old rusty barrel bands, broken & whole, to make wreaths. Several bands are layered and tied together to hold shape. I use old tin to fashion a "bow" or use canvas ribbon. Some even have lights.

Another great Video with your expertese on the styles and years. I have lear.ned quite a bit from your teachings. As a child and teenager, we went on many hikes finding old cabins and encampments, with my family and friends. My parents would have us carefully dig and find very old glassware, an old revolver. Horse shoes. Very very fascinating. How cool you find these with old maps from the area.

I know that all of the bottles that you found on this dig were basically common, I wish you would show more of them cleaned up at the end of your video. They may not have embossing, but they usually have a lot of bubbles and crooked necks etc. and I would have loved to see some of their crudity !

From the condition of that first pit and all of the broken glass, it’s almost like they threw them as hard as they could into the pit to break them up so they would take up less space. I don’t remember any other pits that you’ve dug that were in that state of condition.
