Already added it to my WTR when I saw you were reading it on GR. 😅

Such beautiful, beautiful writing. I thought I'd like it, but it still surprised me. She has a new book out, Opacities, on writing, and plenty of others in her backlist.

Ohhh I’ll try to grab Opacities next. I think she’s now an auto but author for me.

On my first atempt I could not connect to the story or the characters. I might give it another try in the future. I'll try the new SF novella "The Practice, the Horizon and the Chain" by this author.

That’s fair. I can definitely see why this book might not be for someone.

Read this a little bit ago after Bookchemist's great review of the following short stories. I wasn't quite as in love with it as you I think, the writing was absolutely gorgeous, and the world created so evocative, but once we get into the back half I needed a little more drive from the characters.... at least that time around. I can definitely see myself coming back, will definitely read her other stories, and even if it's not my very favorite, I'm so glad it's out there, so glad to have read it. Also think you're spot on with the GGK connection, fans of his should without any doubt check it out. Hopefully this gets it a few more reads!

That's totally fair. I do think this book is not for everyone and is a bit of an acquired taste! I'm glad her writing was a memorable experience though, as I do agree, it really is gorgeous.
