Hello Keith - I've watched quite a few of your video over the past few weeks, And I have to say that I don't find them very useful, at least not directly. However, this is because although I very much enjoy model steam engines, at this time of my life I will most likely never build one. Seeing your methods and approach to the work is an inspiration for anyone interested in hand crafting anything. Thank you very much for producing and sharing them!

I just came across you working on a triple expansion engine, a friend now gone built one and he had it working but only in one direction, we worked out he needed to fit another eccentric to each cylinder valve gear, so it was done by spliting eccentrics, plus extras links etc, and the engine worked fantastic, he was a great modeller, formally a Fireman, house fire type not loco, I missed getting hold of the engine after his son took his collection for keeps.

Keith, I have been watching your videos for quite some time and find many things that I do already, plus some very great ideas to fix things in future. I am now 81 yrs so done lots of models, now just ordered a Beam engine kit from Stuarts, so I need to get more of the vids of this to watch again. Sad to say I cannot join and pay for your work, pensions limit what I do, but pls keep up the great work,.

My word,Keith,it is so cool to see how you fix things properly.Anyone watching MUST appreciate that.It is very clear how important it is to machine ANY part properly from the start to avoid a "bodge" job at the end!! Looking forward to the next step....

Hello Keith, several years ago you showed a video of your work on a beam engine that was out of alignment, similar to this one. Is it by happening the same engine that is now back to you for further adjustments ? Greetings from Sweden
@keithappleton4 жыл бұрын
No, the other one was a large Stuart Major Beam engine, this one is the standard small one and badly made.

i see that the stem chest cover has the valve casting mounted for use with a governor, are you going to fit this engine with a governor ?

Parts of this video were used and partially re-voiced for a 'Model Engineering For Beginners" tutorial series, as I thought that it would help anyone following that series. Watch it and you may find it useful . . . .
