You don't usually see a world-class GM blundering their queen in one move. But it happens in this game between Bibisara Assaubayeva and Vincent Keymer at the Satty Zhuldyz Blitz 2023. But the blunder is slightly deeper than what meets the eye! Look carefully and you will realize what one of the players missed.

That was my first thought too, but then I saw the phantom knight fork. So at least it wasn't a GM just flat out putting his Q en prise - sort of a second level blunder.

From the opening handshake it looked like they don't really know each other, and I'm sure she was a bit embarrassed to beat such a strong player on such a blunder, but after a few seconds he kindly caught her eye and smiled, and she was obviously very relieved! Always interesting the personal dynamics between these players, and that was a sweet little moment.

There might be another winning move that I am missing, but be4 and white is winning because in addition to the queen being hit, your rook is hanging because of the knight blocking the connection between the two

Somehow I was expecting her to be the one hanging the queen in time trouble. I've always felt like endgames under time pressure is when the gap between male and female players is most significant. Excellent game by Bibisara, playing well, fast and confident.

@@shivanthm7862 Do you know how to read? I said Bibisara is ranked female player number 30 in the world and Vincent is ranked number 37 in the world (in classical chess). Bibisara has 1286 players higher rated than her on this tournament, but those are mainly male players, obviously. How can you mix things up so badly? I'll put it a bit more simple for you to understand: male player#37 in the world is over 250 elo points higher rated than female player#30 in the world.

@@ricardzubimendi7152 no man, the incorrect way of comparing is to compare her female rankings and vincent's male/open ranking. In order to compare their strengths you have to use the same ranking system. Which i took as open ranking system. It clearly shows that vincent is way higher ranked than bibisara which shows gender shouldn't be taken into consideration as vincent is already better. It's like comparing Hou Yifan and Magnus, both are number one in terms of their gender. But magnus is clearly better. Does it mean magnus is that better coz he's a male? Nope
