Hi Simon, Playmaker6174 here. Thank you so much for featuring the puzzle, another fantastic solve and a perfect follow-up to that beast of a puzzle, I had a great laugh during watching the video ;) The main idea was from a suggestion in the past, where I asked for a constraint for the next puzzle and grkles suggested "renban with parity". It took quite a reasonable time to work on that idea and eventually I got the main structure (which was the break-in, which you got it). The hardest part to set was indeed choosing the clues around the fortress cells and then those renban lines in the middle 3 columns (I can say that the 2 cells renban line is a happy little accident :} ). Also I really appreciate the shout-out of the GAPP channel, I definitely recommend this one to everyone, some of the puzzles are really fun and have lots of unique logics :)

I had a "spidey sense" moment during the solve too. Uncanny. I think it's the nature of the puzzle -- you expect the symmetry to do more than it does, and when it breaks down, you think you've broken it. There's so much to like about this puzzle. The interplay between the constraints, the geometry, the symmetry, the asymmetry, etc. And best of all, it holds up all the way through to the end. Brilliant setting @Playmaker6174!

Another way to look at Box 1 is that it has six consecutive digits, emphasis on consecutive. There are 3 digits not on it, 2 high and 1 low. They must be taken from the extremes of 1-9 to not break the consecutive sequence. Therefore they are a 189 triple, squeezing in from the extremes.

Fascinated by hidden symmetry-breakers, this looks like a totally rotationally symmetric grid aside from the stray two-cell renban, except it's not -- since the rotational symmetry is inverse, with symmetrical elements matching high to low in the givens, the fortress cells are actually asymmetrical since the inequality relationship inherent does the opposite work in the two symmetrical locations (similar to what we've seen with thermos in other first-blush "symmetrical" puzzles of late)

If George RR Martin was a sudoku setter a third of the way through solving you would think this was the greatest puzzle of all time but two thirds through you would realize there was actually no solution at all. What a puzzle this was. I really sweated for 50:04 but managed to finish without hints from Simon. The logic was very beautiful. I don't know what I enjoyed more in Simon's video, the guitar in- end outro or the elegant solve. I had to Goodliffe the box 1 and 9 renbans and use my scanning much more than Simon. I also got the lower of the two fortresses much earlier than Simon. Amazing how much we absorb from these masters. A few months ago I hardly ever even tried my hand at puzzles with video length > 30 minutes - but now even > 45 does not scare me anymore.

Just under 100 minutes for me. Felt like this one was difficult, but doable, compared to others featured on the channel that take me 4+ hours (sometimes with hints!). I've noticed the more "basic" rulesets, like classic sudoku or classic + killer sudoku are the hardest for me, probably due to how new I am to sudoku. The more gimmicky the puzzle the better I perform; perhaps the constructors and solvers are closer in familiarity to me in that aspect.

Really enjoyable Sudoku, right on the cusp of my ability, but in the way that feels smooth rather than the 'get a difficult deduction every 10 minutes for 2 hours' way or the 'stare at the grid for 30 minutes, get a single brutal deduction, and then the puzzle collapses' way. One thing to note about the GAPPs - And I think this is wonderful - I think they're a tad easier than the GAS puzzles, meaning they're pitched perfectly if they're the first time you've ever seen this puzzle type. And considering the breadth of the puzzle types that have been featured, most people are going to encounter puzzle types they've not seen before in them. I basically never get 2 hats on a GAS. I occasionally get a sloth (the equivalent of two hats) on a GAPP in a puzzle type I've never done before.
