There's actually a lore-based reason for the glowing blue weak points on the tanks. The tanks are powered by ragnite and the energy output causes a lot of heat, as such the radiators need to be outside the tank armor to properly vent the excess heat.

Played Valk Chronicles 4 on a whim at a friend's house. Absolutely loved it, got the game, and now I'm not ashamed to say I'm obsessed. I'm a tactics nerd AND a history nerd, but honestly the cliche anime bs is so heart-warming it let's me forgive it for being over-the-top. I'll see about getting the other games at some point. This is a fun video too, good stuff man.

As a relecture of WWII where the Atlantic Federation is NATO, and Vinland (mentioned more oftenly in VC 4) is the USA, is kinda offensive/unfair that the Empire is a combination of the Nazis with the USSR. Offensive if we consider that the russians were the country that had more casuelties in the war and the most important in the nazis defeat. Although the fact that they were allied with thenazis before the war, before being double crossed, creates a sort of precedent. Also Gallia is kinda of a France/Poland mix.

VC3 got the best storyline and character development. The only downside is the repetition of maps but it doesn't bother me that much though.

I wonder if they will make a change of scenario/conflict for future games. I can see the europan nations trying to find new sources of ragnite in overseas continents and engaging in colonial wars among themselves and whatever local powers present there. The main party could the equivalent of the Foreign Legion.

Actually the source of Rosie’s racism is explained in her side chapter. So you just need to play it to find out. Spoiler: she grew up in a village with Darcens. The village was burned down when anime-nazis came to kidnap Darcen slave labors. So she blamed the Darcens because projection.

Hoodlie Well, world war 2 was not fought specifically over resources. I understand what you are saying, but the game seems to have more of a ww2 aesthetic. The antagonist faction looks like if Russia was still a monarchy. A monarchy with the manpower of the Soviet Unions’ red army and the firepower and discipline of the third Reich. And, just like the Wehrmacht, they are having a resource shortage. But, the Wehrmacht invaded the Soviet Union because hitler wanted power, and resource concerns were a secondary objective, like a “while we are at it” sort of deal. The bad guys seem to be invading galleria for the sole purpose of acquiring more ragnite. Much like how saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait to specifically gain dominance over their oil fields. Galleria is a hodgepodge of different European countries, but seems to bare a striking resemblance to Finland when it comes to the situation they are in. If you remember the winter war (1939-1940), the soviets under Joseph Stalin invaded Finland to take some of their land to create a buffer just in case of a Nazi invasion after the fins refused their initial offer. The fins kicked ass, and were able to keep their country with militia type infantry. Much like how our heroes fought back to keep their independence from the empire. Also, final note, if all of the fighting is taking place specifically in galleria, then it is not a world war. I have heard someone say that Valkyria chronicles is basically fire emblem with guns. Story wise, or at least as close as it can get, I would say that valkyria chronicles is basically if command and conquer red alert was an anime.

Garrett Sattem ... I’m not a history person. The Empire’s goal was, in a nutshell, to gain power and land to take over the rest of the continent and then the world. It just so happens that they saw Gallia was filled with ragnite and decided to invade there to gain more resources while their other forces were invading the rest of the Federation’s countries. I don’t know if it’s necessarily a WORLD War since they never mention foreign countries being involved, but it seems pretty clear this game was based around World War 2. Besides, the Empire are totally Nazis. Also... Fire Emblem? Really? They’re nothing alike, aside from being strategy RPGs.

i know this is real late, but i find it funny how almost no reviews of these games ever mention Orders. Probably because they are the most overpowered mechanic in the game and Orderstacking a ZMKar 9 Alicia or something simillar completely trivialises the entire game lul^^

@@HoodlieRPG yeah, thats understandable tbh, the game doesnt really do a good job of introducing you to the mechanic. And its probaly better that you didnt use them alot because as i stated, once you start using them the game loses alot of its difficulty and the battles become much less interesting. If you want to 100% and S-Rank everything you are going to HAVE to use em but thats not alot of players i imagine^^ Even tho it is pretty funny to turn your 15 year old bread girl into an unstoppable, bulletproof speeddemon that can singlehandedly murder an entire army in a single round just by having welkin shout encouraging words at her repeatedely^^
