I always learn from your videos. Quilling has fascinated me since I was a child seeing artwork from the 1890s in a museum. Finally, at age 77 I’ve taken it up. My skills continue to grow as I keep trying new ideas. I have 4 joint replacements in my fingers so I’m learning ways to work with and around them. Quilting is my main love but it’s been nice to take a break from it to play with paper. I appreciate your videos for your vision, techniques, precision and the way you don’t seem to rush just to be done.

Aaah, wow, that is amazing that you took up paper quilling at this age! Very inspiring! And that you're pursuing it in spite of the difficulties in your fingers. Simply amazing! 😊 I wish you the very best ! It's comments like this that make it so worth it sharing my art projects here on KZbin, so thank you so much for sharing your story! And wow, that's just so interesting that you went to a museum that had quilling artwork from the 1890s 😳. I would've loved to see something like that! Quilting is definitely a wonderful art as well !! I'm so glad my videos are of help to you, Melinda! 😊 Happy quilling! 🌀

Thank you for sharing!! It's beautiful. On-edge quilling has always been a challenge for me. Especially handling small pieces with the tweezers and sticking! 😅 love your work. Thank you again.

I'm happy you missed my work 😉☺️. Work has been taking more time lately... so videos come a little later than planned. But, it's a little bit like that saying goes: "absence makes the heart grow fonder" 😃 (sometimes posting not so often makes the heart grow fonder for the art, hm? 🤔😉🌟).

@@MiriamsQuilling That's true! Anyway I will keep looking for your videos always. Happy weekend, fairy!
Thank you very much! 😊 Well, that's pretty interesting that you've tried all those types of art forms! 👍🏻 I think that when you really like art in general, there's something in you that makes you want to try your hand at different forms of it. I love other types of art too and have tried my hand at some, just like you ;). But, yes, I totally agree, it's hard to be good at several of them at the same time if you don't have time to practice more often. Thank you very much for sharing your experiences! 😊

Absolutely stunning Miriam, the detail, balance and composition is so very accomplished in this piece. I love the little extra touches you always work into your pieces like the ring of orange around the daisy centres and the different tones of pink. I love how you vary the size and shapes of the petals and leaves just as you see in nature. And you are so right… quilling takes a long time to master, it’s a slow craft at the best of times and can be very frustrating in the beginning. But like any craft that takes time to master, the hard work pays off and you end up with a stunningly beautiful unique piece of art like this one. Gorgeous ❤😘

Thank you very much, Orla!! 💛 Always a pleasure reading your comments! You capture everything so well, every time! 😉Yes, I do feel sometimes like quilling is maybe what you could say, a slow craft, it takes quite some time to finish a piece. Sometimes, I imagine a certain project will take me a certain amount of time to finish... but things end up longer than what I thought 🤔 (especially when it's a new art piece that I've never made before). Are there any other types of art you like or you've tried your hand at?
@orlahastings4563 Жыл бұрын
@@MiriamsQuilling Oh yes indeed, I have done gouache painting, calligraphy, origami, card making, and at the moment I make hand made boxes - my son makes handmade chocolates and I make nice boxes to put them in. For a very special box I will do some quilling to decorate the top of the box but it takes too long most of the time so it’s mostly die cuts and some origami and using really nice papers and card. I don’t get to do anywhere near as much quilling as I’d like, there are just not enough hours in the day!

Oh wow, you are so talented! So nice to hear that! I feel like, when you really like art, something in you makes you want to try different forms of it, right? At least, that's my experience. So fun, making boxes for handmade chocolates 🍫🍫! I can imagine all the work put into everything 😳. Those are very special chocolates indeed! 😊 And yes indeed, sometimes there's just not enough time (or energy) for everything ;).

❤All of your videos a such a pleasure to watch, your work is so beautiful. I love that you explain the type of paper you use as a newcomer to quilling it helps me to know whats best for different designs. Im very much at oh that’s rubbish stage with my work 😂 but I will keep trying as the end results are so beautiful. Thank you for sharing you wonderful talent xx

Thank you so much for sharing that, Krissy! 💛 I'm very happy to hear you enjoy watching my videos and that there's also something you learn from them. It makes my work all the more worthwhile hearing that! I have those kinds of moments too when I look at something I'm working on and feel like "aaah, I don't like it"... but I try my best to not give up on what I've started, and it's satisfying being able to finish something. Sometimes, I just put my work aside for a couple of days, and do something else. Then when I go back to it, I see it with different eyes 👀.
