Thanks for this video. I was a few times in Europe on a business trip and liked how accurate the roads and everything else are there.

But I think the most clear good point to shift to neutral and not pressing the clutch is you can sit back relax, stretch yourself, waiting for the green light:)

@Lostspirit221 Yea they started good. 3008, 5008, 508, RCZ are all great, and new 208 is awesome as well. Citroen is also doing great with their cars, C4, C5, DS3, DS4, DS5...they're all amazing cars.

@deventergast Insignia is longer, wider, taller than passat, and heavier. Yes, new Passat 2.0 TDI is definitely faster than Insignia 2.0CDTI, it feels more responsive and engine is smoother. Opel diesels are pretty rough and loud.

I know Vauxhall might've cropped their logo a bit since 3 years ago but this feels and is so much faster to drive than a Vectra and the new twin turbo 2.0 CDTI powerplant made it a lot better Think I'd have this rather than a Passat 140

@Lostspirit221 I haven't driven the current Passat yet. So I cannot compare. The Insignia is an ok car but has some issues. Space in the back is limited and the rear view is appaling (I had the 5-door version). It's like you're in a bunker. Also the trunk is shaped strangely: It is less practical, than a Golf. Also, at least with the snow tyres on, the directional stability was very bad. With a bit of wind it felt like sailing on the Autobahn.

@Lostspirit221 Thats exactly how I felt. I tested Laguna, C5, Accord, Mazda 6, Audi A4, Passat, Insignia, Mondeo....and 508 simply felt best, I couldn't find a single major fault with it, and it actually feels much grown up and more expensive than anything in segment, it does EVERYTHING well its a proper big executive premium car. It would be more fair to compare it to Audi A6 than to Audi A4 for example. They just need to start producing AWD Hybrid and 3.0HDI versions.

it doesnt matter for couple minutes, but if you have to wait for a bridge, for like 10 minutes, then its better to pull up your handbrake and put your gear in neutral ;)

@Lostspirit221 So yea, If I'd be looking at this segment, I'd buy Peugeot 508 GT 2.2HDI. That car is godlike in segment. Engine excellent, gearbox excellent, interior quality and materials above Audi A4 level and waaaay above Passat or Insignia, all very soft plastic, lots of real aluminum and leather, excellent fit and finish, very solid. It drivers great, very sharp and precise,its very agile and sporty, while still being more comfortable and smooth than Passat or Insignia.

@derbigpr500 hmm i dont know, i was kinda quite sure that passat and insignia were like the same size =O, oh well i like our passat more then a insignia, insignia is almost same price as an audi a6 here in the netherlands lol..

nice video frank.(again). i wanted to ask u...whats ur opinion about the insignia ? how is the sound isolation of the cabin? the materials? where would u place it ? above the passat? below? what would u say its biggest downside is ? besides the lazy diesel engine

@derbigpr500 passat and insignia are the same size? someone nearby also has a insignia and he showed me the interior etc.., so passat is faster with top speed and acceleration? did you meant that?
@derbigpr500
@derbigpr500 12 жыл бұрын
@deventergast Ye Passat with 140hp is faster than Insignia with 160hp both in top speed and acceleration. Insignia is very big, not as aerodynamic and heavier.

Are you putting it in 5th gear at speeds in region of 60kmh? I know modern diesels have lots of torque available from the bottom revs but I was always told that driving oil burners is all about the maximum torque, so it is best to keep engine at revs where it has maximum torque available.. I change gears at 2.2-2.5k revs (excluding 1st gear) and it works perfectly for my car. I drive VW 1.9tdi (130ps). Fuel consumption on country roads is about 51-54mpg ( 5.3-5.6l/100km)
@derbigpr500
@derbigpr500 12 жыл бұрын
@Lostspirit221 I test drove both and Insignia has a MUCH nicer interior design, wraps around you.Its a cozy and warm interior especially in beige leather, but has very low roof in the back, so if you're taller than 180cm, you cant sit nicely in rear seats. Also, its messy with too many buttons, and some parts like indicator stalks feel cheap, because they're the same as in all GM cars. Nice soft plastics and nice materials, but fit and finish could be better and more solid.

@Lostspirit221 Passat has a cold and lifeless interior, pretty old actually, but good materials mostly, and very good fit and finish. Its engines are better and smoother (2.0TDI > 2.0 CDTI), and it still feels faster with 143hp than Insignia with 160hp. Its more comfortable and quieter than Insignia, nicer to drive, better car overall than Insignia, but kinda boring. However, they're both outclassed in pretty much every area except price holding by new Peugeot 508.

@derbigpr500 :) thanks a million; it is funny u know...because that is the car i want to buy but i was a bit confused by the competition (insignia and passat)...i want to buy this summer the 2.0 hdi allure fap 163 ps manual with all the goodies...im so glad u also said that the 508 is better.:D for me it felt better than anything ive test drove; okai i didnt test drove the insignia thats why i asked^^ ;and indeed the price depreciation is a bit on the "wtf" side with the 508 but the rest is top.
