I posted this video this morning and it didn't show up on my channel properly, then it showed no views for an entire hour, so I reached out to KZbin support and got help. Apparently there are some issues with this happening across the platform. Glad you guys are seeing it now. Chris at KZbin was a big help.

David, it is my belief that everyone could use a good montage every now and then. This was superb.

Very nice set up. I have been planning to do this with my stack of pallets and I like wiring then instead of nailing them together like you did.

I think the wire is easier. If I had zip-ties, I would probably use those, but didn't have any on hand.

David, i just love the way you do things ! there is absolutely NO pretense to try and be this `neat gardener` , using the `correct` tools etc., you use what is at hand at the time. And you get the job done! in so, showing people you don`t need the fancy tools if you do not have them. ( I know you have the equipment ) Great video as always, thank you from South Africa

The worst that can happen is the bins turn into compost. That sounds fine to me.

At my place I guess the termite soldiers would eat up all the wood used for building the bin. So I use the metal mesh covered with plastic which is pretty durable IMO
@davidthegood5 жыл бұрын
That works, too. I figure these will last about two years before the termites eat them, then I'll get some more pallets and go again.

Hopefully, KZbin will get it together & start sending notifications. Seems I have a lot to catch up on! Good to know that all is well with you & the family. For years I have been sending yard waste to my county landfill, they compost it. Two weeks ago I went and filled the bed of my Tacoma with free compost, since then I have made a second trip and this coming weekend if it is not raining, a third trip. May as well get back what I can form what I have been sending them year after year. Once all of my raised beds are filled, I am thinking of building up a big pile, if there isn't too many weeds I want to topdress the front yard and reclaim bio mass.

DTG, you've got me wondering... what is the machete I should buy for brush removal? What would you recommend since you clearly have had to use them for a while. I need to buy one especially for brush removal. Thanks! I've been searching around and there are many styles to choose from and I'm clueless.
@davidthegood5 жыл бұрын
I have a Martindale cutlass-style machete I use; however, I could never find them in the US. I also have one of these which works nicely: www.groworganic.com/corona-machete.html They sell them at Home Depot as well, I believe. The real trick of it is to spend a good bit of time really getting a sharp edge on the blade before you go out chopping, then keep a file with you to touch up the edge a couple of times during a day's work. From the factory the edge is usually a bit squared off. Get it going at a nice 15-degree angle and it will almost work all by itself.
@bzz56015 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! We will be buying one fairly soon, so I appreciate it! Where I am, the jungle is made up of blackberries. :) Much love to you and your lovely wife and kids.

And to think I've been using a hammer all these years...What was I thinking?! Looks like you need more compost bays. Already a very productive block. My land was abundant when I found it also...had plenty of those rock tools everywhere...I think God placed them here instead of topsoil.

You must love sharpening that machete. Why don't you cut the pieces on a piece of wood or the palette itself so that the blade wouldn't hit the ground (and possibly a stone)?

Hi D. You appear so confident with the machete, but I can't forget what happened last year. Two years ago now maybe. I picture your bandaged appendage with every swing, so the ominous music is almost too much. Now, personally, I have 12 compost piles and growing but still never have enough compost each year.
