I play a very similar game called, "Beat the Teacher!" The students and I each have a piece of paper with 4 lines written on it, just like the squares are set up on your game board, just without a trash can. I begin by rolling and displaying a 9 sided die on the overhead projector. After each roll, I pause so that we can write the number onto one of the four lines. Like you, trying to make the largest 4 digit number possible. Students write with a pen, because once you place a number on a line, you can't move it. After the last roll, I display and read my own number. If students think they have a number of greater value than mine, they must read their number aloud. My students LOVE playing this game! Not only do they have the opportunity to beat me, they are allowed to write in pen AND they are working on their place value skills.

I love that Jennifer!! Yeah, both games sound very similar. The kids do love the randomness and chance!! Thanks for sharing that.

Thank you for sharing. What makes it win, what makes it a loss? Are the two sides taking turns and comparing the four digit number and the larger one wins? If you play 6 times, do you add the numbers or is it recorded as 6 wins and that is compared?

A win is when you have the largest 4-digit number possible and the lowest digit is in the trash. Everyone uses the same digits. Each game is separate from eahc other.

8 is so high I would have put it as highest number and 5 in the 19s spot to leave space for 1 to 4 in one's place and 6 or 7 in hundreds place betting that 9 won't show up
@mrhinomath2 жыл бұрын
Yep, go with your gut on what might show up.

Instead of cards you can also use dice, right?
