you forgot Lebanon's greatest hero or even a saint Youssef bek karam he fought the ottoman and refused their terrible rule and in the battle of bnachii he led a force of only one thousand men armed only by sword against a much more superior ottoman armed by guns army of 12 000 men and he won and killed thousands of them and only lost 7 men can u believe that . it was a miracle because he prayed with his man on the whole road and then he had a very cloudy weather to the point where the ottoman couldn't see them and that's how they won . later then the ottoman were going crazy about what just happened and started forming some very large force and many lebanese were starting to betray him cs they were paid so in order to save a lot of blood he accepted to be exiled . also earlier the count of tripoli who was a ottoman puppet announced karam a outlaw and put a price on his head so when karam heard this he went by himself to tripoli and surrendered himself and told the count that he will offer himself if only the money that was placed on him be given to the poor . the count was so amazed by him he let him go . he was a true man who was very religious and would not stop praying even when the ottoman were very close to him

I'm trying to figure out when there was first an area called "Lebanon". Of course, the physical area existed before then. I'm pretty sure it wasn't always called "Lebanon" though. Reportedly, part of it was part of Phoenicia.
@ajc56752 жыл бұрын
Lebanon is the name of the mountain range that lies on the east coast of the Mediterranean. The name derives from the Phoenician word "lbn" which means white, referring to the snow-capped mountains in the winter. When the Allies won against the Ottomans during WW1, they colonized the middle east and Lebanon became a French mandate. The French then announced the state of "Greater Lebanon" in 1920 which joined various districts to Mount Lebanon and thus created the natural borders of the country today. Basically they kept the name and hence Lebanon is known as the oldest country name in the world which dates back to Phoenician time. I live in Mount Lebanon btw

4:35 this part is wrong The Palestinian Liberation organisation (PLO) used Lebanon as a base of attack way before 1982, after they were expelled from Jordan in 1971. And the map of Lebanon as of 1982 is also wrong because the "Lebanese land" is not actually "Lebanese" in the sense that it was controlled by the Lebanese state. But it was controlled by Christian Lebanese Militias known as the Lebanese Forces and also its allies like israel. israel funded LF, in turn, the US was funding israel. And the rest of the map that was "Syrian" was actually controlled by the Syrian army, shia Lebanese militias and the PLO and other smaller militias (all funded by the USSR)
