Hope you finish the socks. I too am doing socks for gifts and I find I don't mind doing one sock at a time bit I am more of a process knitter. I like the relaxed movement and rhythm. End product is a plus but I just take my time, which makes the project last a long while. Also when I mention doing colorwork inside out, what you do is push your work inside out. So for example, on magic loop working needle is in the back and the front facing you is the yarn. You don't purl stitches ( people find this harder unless you so portuguese method like I do purling is easier) you work knitting from the inside and for colorwork the float will travel a bit longer as you stretch the stitches a bit and switch colors. When colorwork is done you flip the work out and knit rest if sock as normal. No purling needed unless you doing ribbing or special stitches. I hope this make sense.
