We are like siblings here. In the USA, we will argue and yell and get angry with each other about almost anything. However, if someone from the outside comes in and tries to hurt us, we will stand together and fight every time. This is our house

There are countless unsung heroes from 911. These guys evacuated 500,000 people in 9 hours. Those blessed firemen and policemen that gave their lives in the towers. Hundreds of construction workers that dug through the rubble and had terrible diseases from breathing the smoke. The passengers that brought down the plane in a field rather than letting it hit a building, knowing full well they would die. There are so many others…. 911 showed the worst or humanity and the best all at the same time. I was heartbroken for my country that day, but also very proud. Thank you for reacting to this one❤️

This is so hard to watch. One of our best friends was in the first tower and his office was a direct hit. He was on call to London and the London office said Gary was in mid sentence and then nothing. God bless these boat rescuers and all who helped that day. We lost Gary, but thank God for the brave who saved others. May God always bless America.❤️💙🇺🇸🙏

The Ports amd Marinas on the Jersey side fueled all those boats without paynent with no idea if they would be compensated. The smaller operations chose to do so knowing that it could have meant the failure of their business if they were never compensated.

The story was turned into a Tony Award winning Broadway musical called Come From Away.

When the US Coast Guard calls for help, anyone who can DOES. Prisoners in jails wanted to help, Towns across state lines sent first responders, businesses took in dust covered people. A doctor's Conference across the river in New Jersey volunteered to treat people. Doctors & nurses in New York City reported to their hospitals on their days off, Off duty Police & Firefighters reported in for work that day. Towns covered each other with Fire & Police and sent the extra up to the city. Roads leading to NY were turned one way fir emergency vehicles. Hospitals across states waited for victims that never came😣. We were just so relieved when all planes were down and our NATO allies patrolled our skies for a week or more.

Thanks for the reaction. I am a native New Yorker who was living outside the US on 9/11. I was unable to contact anyone for hours. Finally, a family member called me and told me we had lost a relative in the first tower that fell. It took me 9 days to return to the US because all airspace was closed to air traffic. I never knew about this boatlift until I started watching videos about 9/11 on KZbin.

I am a new subscriber. I just watched your reaction to the attack on New York on 9-11, how the boats descended on Manhattan. On the same line, you should check into FLIGHT 93. Regular passengers on this flight, who were unaware of what was happening to America, heard from someone who had called his wife that America was under attack. As they looked around the plane they soon realized that their plane was headed in the wrong direction! Realizing that the plane was heading to Washington, D.C., several of the passengers got together and decided to try to take down the people who were obviously the terrorist! Knowing if the plane made it to Washington, it would either fly into THE WHITE HOUSE or THE CAPITOL BUILDING itself, these brave men tried with all of their might to take the terrorist over! Sadly, the terrorist got into the cockpit of the plane and tried to make the pilots fly to Washington. THEY REFUSED! Upon learning what the terrorist were going to do, the Pilots crashed the plane in Pennsylvania! All of the passengers had voted to die, rather than killing MANY PEOPLE! This was FLIGHT 93! They showed extreme bravery on that horrible day! Actually there were 5 planes set to attack America! Another one did hit the Pentagon! What bravery was shown on that horrible day! There is a movie titled Flight 93. It is excellent! Thank you for your wonderful reactions!

The reason all of these people were heroes were because at the time this was all happening we didn’t know if there were going to be more attacks so going to help was a definite risk. And like the ferryman said he didn’t know if there could be people getting on his ferry with bombs. There was just so much unknown of who was attacking us and if there were going to be more at that time. Lots of heroes that day from the firefighters, police, individual volunteers, people on the plane that took down the plane knowing they would die but wanting to keep the terrorists from their destination, the people doing the boat lift, those who helped the wounded and scared, the guys who dug through all the debris in the aftermath to look for people and then the cleanup, it just goes on and on. Heroes every one.

I remember watching the live news feeds and seeing the silent waters, chewing on my nails as I rocked back and forth staring at the screen from the desert of Las Vegas, knowing all those people were trapped on the island. It was sickening. Why wasn't anyone helping? It was obvious what should be done and no one was doing it! And then I saw a handful of boats streaming across the water, smaller ones going balls to the wall straight for the island, the kind that looked like personal watercraft and maybe a tourist boat.....my heart leapt. I KNEW people were coming! Then within what felt like 2 minutes the water was littered with boats putting the pedal to the metal and I wept. When I stumbled onto this video a few years back, it brought tears to my eyes. I had never heard about it and was so happy that moment I remember so vividly was told. At the time I thought, no one will ever give you credit for what you are doing, but I see you. I see you. Even as a witness to this very story, I did knot know the numbers involved nor the story of how it unfolded. I am grateful this mini doc exists and I am grateful for every person in it. 07:19 we were also grateful for the support the world showed us in our time of tragedy. I was 6 years old when this happened. I grew up about 3 hours train ride from the city. I was in school when things went down. We had just started the day when the other second grade teacher burst into the room. She was pushing a tv on a cart and shouting "turn on the news! turn on the news! something's happening in the city." I remember watching the second tower get hit. After that? pretty much a blur. I just remember getting sent home early, and watching the news at home. In my area there is an Air National Guard Base, a regional airport, and an international airport. a lot of their flight paths run pretty much over my house. Up until that day, there hadn't been a day in my life where I didn't have a plane fly so low over my house, the walls would shake. 9/11, and the days afterwards was the first time I experienced true silence. That's the part that scared me the most. The area that I live in buts up against a major manufacturing center, a major regional port, and the state capital. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING was shut down. I honestly don't remember even hearing a car on the road.

During one of her trips the fire department radioed her. "Do your pumps still work?" After the reply yes, she was ordered to drop off her passengers and return to tie up along side the other fireboats, her old Marine 2 designation was reactivated and she stayed on station round the clock pumping water till the mains could be repaired

I have watched this video many times and I cry every single time. Such a tremendous accomplishment with boats coming from everywhere not just New York City. There were boats from Boston and many other locations outside of New York that just flew as fast as they could across the water to get to New York to help. If I remember correctly, the Staten Island Ferry alone moved 50,000 people. New York city fire boats also we’re pumping river water to the firefighters down at the World Trade Center. So much was going on simultaneously that it’s just a testament to humanity how well people worked together on that day. I also remember about a month later, my sister and I were visiting England and the compassion and courtesy we received from everyone we encountered was so humbling and heartwarming. The British people couldn’t have been kinder to us. I’ll never forget that.

9/11 really hit me hard! I was 13, I think of it literally everyday. As an American it really touched me to hear you talk about how you felt that day. Thank you for watching this and sharing your thoughts🙏🏼 Much love and Respect🙏🏼

Stories about people coming together from tragedy are always the best, they show the kindness in people that doesn't often show in day to day life. A similar story is the US Military response to the 2011 Japanese earthquake and tsunami. Which they named "Operation Tomodachi" which is the a japanese word for friend. These are probably the best videos talking about it I know of if you are interested. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqLKY3upnb-or6s kzbin.info/www/bejne/mnXRepd9gN2deZo It also a good illustration that the US Military isn't just for killing its also often the first responder to natural disasters as most nations don't have the capability to deploy so far so quickly.

I'm almost three-quarters of a century old there a 3 events that happened in my lifetime that I'll never forget where I was when I heard the news. One was President Kennedy's assassination. 2 was the murder of John Lennon. 3 was 9/11. I also lost a dear friend to the Vietnam non-war. I was in the military at the time. .

Another forgotten part of 9/11 is we are still losing a few every month since due to cancers caused by the material inhaled. Just last week we lost 2 NYC firefighters from 9/11 cancers. So in a sickening way in the NY Metro area we are still going thru it. Thank you for watching this story.

This did not get much press because the reporters and officers at ground zero could not see the sea wall. The initial casualty. reports estimated too high because they could not find these people.

I consider grit to be the defining American trait, and it has been since we were still colonies of Great Britian. Grit, taken from a few dictionaries: firmness of mind or spirit; unyielding courage and determination despite difficulty: "It takes true (= real) grit to stand up to a bully."/"he displayed the true grit of the navy pilot" This goes both ways though, and there are downsides. Americas tend to jump without looking, and will apply themselves without thinking about how to do something, what they are trying to do and how to ultimately stop doing it. Afghanistan is the perfect example of the down side of American grit.

Earlier l watched a video about what Russian people really thought about Americans and l realized that its not the citizens problem its the politicians!!! So l commented by saying we can improve our vocabulary by eliminating 2 words hate and enemy and using love friends, brothers and sisters instead so grab a beer and we can sit and watch politicians make total asses of their selves as long as they don't try to hurt any of our friends brothers or sisters nice thought them idiot's would screw that up before we finished our first beer. Just a thought!!
