A Tactical History of Liverpool, Episode 24: Liverpool - West Ham 1969, Football League 69/70

After going unbeaten in their first nine games of the season, Liverpool began to stutter as they entered the autumn. Since their unbeaten run ended away to Manchester United in mid-September, they had won just two league matches.
The Reds sought to get back on track hosting Ron Greenwood's West Ham United at Anfield, who had seen a lot of changes since we last saw them.

My first match was Manchester City vs Liverpool in 1968 at Maine Road. I think City were champions, it was maybe October that year, and we won 0-2, Bobby Graham with both. That's as far as I remember. I was with my Dad, my uncle and I don't think my big brother was there. I would have been 7. I might well be wrong on some of that, but I remember the occasion.

It was a midweek game. Beating the champions away that easily, I must have thought they were all going to be that easy.
