Absolutely, he had a beautiful touch and his vision and passing ability was second to none. He was the orchestrator in midfield and most of the best play went through him. I'm not a Liverpool supporter but what I don't get about Liverpool's 3rd goal in this game is why it is not considered, hands-down, greatest ever FA cup goal scored, and also the greatest team goal ever scored - it's even better than Carlos Alberto's goal for Brazil's in the 1970 world cup final. It's just an insanely incredible goal that's unfathomably underrated and not mentioned as much as it deserves.

I never forgot that save by Grobbelar from Graham Sharpe’s header. My brother and I couldn’t believe how he got back and got so high to tipi it over the bar.

Best British football team of all time - would have had more European Cups had they not been banned after Heysel. Miss the pure simplicity of that pass and move game - what a team.

I would argue the team got even better when they sold Rush and bought Barnes, Beardsley, Aldridge and Houghton.

I’ve waited 33 years before watching this game again. I thought that might be enough time to let old wounds heal. It isn’t. I forgive Liverpool. They had an incredible side. I think my memory had blocked out Brian Moore. 33 years wasn’t enough.

@@UnashamedlyGodSquad Aww lord! Stuff of nightmares pal. I dream that I'm on the reserves bench for Accrington Stanley against Striking Miners XI. I’m parched with thirst. The ghost of Brian Moore's illegitimate-scouser-grandkid tells me ‘if I had only drunk some milk before the game [rather than the feed of pints that night], I might have even got a start on the pitch'. Condescending wanker. But such were ads in the 80s. Suffice if it say we lose 3-1. I wake up from the nightmare, covered in sweat and Liverpool pyjamas. Jaysus wept! There’s no end to the torment.

My first game was 3rd Sept 1965. I was 14 from Wolverhampton on my way to the funfair and got hijacked by thousands of LFC fans. Blackpool v LFC - won 3-2 but Alan Ball ran the match before his transfer to Everton. Roger Hunt and “The Saint” were fab. I’m 68 now and LFC till I die!!!! Klopp is continuing another dynasty started by Shanks and Paisley - True legends!!

I watched every FA cup final in the early 70’s to the early 80’s before moving to the US. No football was televised here except the WC. I never saw the careers of most of the players involved. I still miss seeing the old Wembley Stadium. I’m still in the US and I’ve missed dozens of past finals. An expat in Florida.

At 16:57, can clearly see it's Craig Johnston's goal, pause it and see the ball on the line as Johnston slides in, play it a bit and can see movement of the ball changes direction

It was live on TV here in Holland. We have been going to Feyenoord with the family for decades, but to see that in the seventies and eighties was something special: always admired football and the experience of football in the UK. It's a shame that it's all become so commercial now, but that's an understatement.

That was a cracking final, and remember it well as a teenage Liverpool fan. Obviously special being an all Merseyside final, but even more so because Liverpool and Everton were without doubt the best two teams in the country. The game was much tighter than the result suggested, and Everton had Liverpool rocking at times. Two quality goals from Rushie, but Jan Molby was the magic ingredient Liverpool needed.
