This was great to listen to. Definitely the first head I think. The Rennaisance head was lacking a lot. Thanks for taking the time to make this.

Just the comparison vid I've been looking for! Great playing, too. For bluegrass, I liked the AMB Max head best on your banjo (marginally), but I think I might buy the first (regular bottom-coated), as it'll stay new-looking for longer, and I heard that they reduce unwanted pick nose, which could be helful when recording. Anyone agree?

Remo Bottom-Frosted Head sounded the best, enjoyed it. The Renaissance head was the worst, my opinion.

Whats the collar height of the heads you tried out I have a nechville saturn with a renaissance head but cant find that info anywhere

Listened.. first head was best, the second head was aided by your reverb which made it sound boomier, but picked up a lot of highs the first head missed.. and the third head was duller than all and made me think I should replace the one I have on my Nechville with the first head. IMHO
