I live near Tulsa too. I went to Pawhuska around 2010. I was looking for a store front to start my business. I was shocked at the beautiful ghost town. It was very hard locating someone to talk to. When I did stop at a small store there-I asked why this beautiful town was empty! But they were white and didn’t know. I read the book when it first came out. I cried a lot. I’m not Osage, but I’m Choctaw and understand the loss of heritage and our fading ancestors 😢 I am trying to learn now for the last 20 years about my heritage and passing it on to my grandkids.
