Absolutely fascinated by what they were going for in the story to this. Setting it presumably between Soul Calibur I and II and watching the world plunged into chaos from Siegfried claiming Soul Edge but not whatever Cervantes (who was twice your size during the fight for some reason?) did with it, all interesting choices. I'd love to see more of this. But don't take too long! You wouldn't want anything to happen to the Holy Roman Empire, would you?

The fight with Cervantes takes place after he was defeated by Taki and Sophitia at the end of SC1, so it makes sense that he was in a weaker state when Siegfried fought him.

I would love to another attempt at a Soul Calibur spin off game out of all the fighting game series I think this series as the most potential to branch out into other franchises. I think a Dynasty Warriors style Soul Calibur would be cool. Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate showed that a Soul Calibur character(Sophitia) could work on a Dynasty Warriors style game and how awesome would it be to play characters like Nightmare and decimate thousands of enemies. The story could either be a retelling of previous games or a brand new one. A quick story I think could work is Hilde gathering the forces of her country and recruiting heroes from the Soul Calibur world to stop Nightmare and his army of monsters and evil characters.

I know right?! I love Soulcals fighting engine, and it has massive potential for the very rare (and sadly, for good reason for the most part) Fighting game RPG genre that so few games fit into. But sadly, this was doomed from the start being on the wii at the height of waggle fever.

They should have gone full Lord of The Rings with Soul Calibur's story and have Cervantes as a sort of pirate Isildur that finds Soul Blade and starts wrecking Spanish, British, and Portuguese fleets with it, until Soul Edge is basically like "fuck this", and "abandons" him. How that works within the canon of SC1 I have no idea, but having that as a sort of tutorial prologue might have been badass.

I love how the HRE (i.e. Germany) is led by a masked king, which would be near impossible to keep his identity any kind of secret. I can also imagine him being asked why the mask and him answering like "nobody cared who i was until i put on the mask..."

The HRE had an emperor that was actually elected (yeah only by less than 10 people, and often a scam election) so at least some people have to know who he is

One thing I could never wrap my head around is the character's individual timelines. Like Ivy has supposedly lived for centuries thanks to alchemy but her dad Cervantes was killed by Sophitia when she was still young but Sophitia is still a young girl when Ivy is older? It gives me a headache.

Strictly rented this game for Lloyd. Played about a dozen versus mode matches as him and then barely touched the story mode. It's a game and it works, but man it's got so little going on. Could have put about the same amount of effort into making it more like a musou game and it would have at least been a little more satisfying to play.

I think I paid around $20 for this, and I ended up kind of getting into it. It never really gets any better than the areas you played, but it's pretty fun in a mindless way. At least it plays well and some of the character art is nice.

I think this game could of been much better if they killed (or made completely optional) the motion controls and tried to be more of a God of War clone. I think at least then it could of been remembered more fondly with at least *trying* more in depth combat lol. Because the base idea is really cool, and pulling off the fighting game combos from the main series in more general combat would be super fun, you could even do a sort of a "Rage of the Gods" thing with turning Siegfried into a proto-Nightmare with power ups from the Soul Edge and you become more corrupt when you use it as the story goes on as you collect the pieces. Lot of potential, shame it was never utiltilized.

Even though it's not a good game overall, I still feel really nostalgic for this game. The idea behind it is really novel; seeing the Soul Calibur characters in a different type of game like this was really cool, and the boss battles were fun, as well. Honestly, I'd be down for the developers to try something like this again with, but with more time and effort put in, instead what happened here with them rushing something out to capitalize on the Wii's success at the time. Or hell, just collab with Tecmo and do a full on Warriors-Style game with the Soul Calibur cast. They've already had Sophitia as a gust character in one of those. Ooh, also of note, in the DLC for Soul Calibur VI, we learned that the events of Soul Calibur Legends was actually a dream that Siegfried had while his body was running around as Nightmare. This is told to us by a new character called Acht, who is an alternate version of Iska.

I hated the Wii because of how successful it was compared to the PS3 but then SoulCalibur Legends was announced for the Wii and my tone changed and thought about getting one for this game. Thankfully, I got Twilight Princess instead. I still hope SoulCalibur can dabble in the action genre again but with proper controls and hire ones from Capcom or PlatinumGames to make it work.

I remember completing this game. I actually had a lot of fun. But the issue with it was that the game is VERY combat heavy, there's a LOT of combat, and it's all motion controls. This is the only wii game I wish they traditional inputs instead of motion controls.

Back in the day, I wanted to get "Kirby's Epic Yarn", but was denied because it looked too gay. So I got this instead, having a very small knowledge of the series, and played it until it got really difficult. That was after you killed this giant who's supposed to be a fake boss or something.

I think this game would have been better if they tried with an style more similar to Mk: Shaolin Monks, you could make an action adventure game with only Siegfried and Ivy just fine and still be a good concept. Despite looking clearly like a low budget game, they could make it a good beat em up. There is like no incentive in using other characters and switching is not fun, they should've make it a co-op game from the beggining and make the motion controls optional or remove it altogheter.
