That is such a beatiful layout, especially the main green station looks absolutly superb. Makes me very jealous you know haha. You truly have such an amazing eye for detail, and have inspired me to add a small narrow gauge subsection to my layout, where large express locomotive can transition at a station for narrow gauge locomotives to carry passengers to a small wharf/ beach. Thank you!

Thanks both - the sound editing is a hobby within a hobby. And there are faults in it, but I know where they are and you don't! If all goes well I will indeed be at Expong, as a visitor.

Ted, Fabulous! Your railway seems to have a life of its own and the videos with their wonderfully dubbed sound are a marvel. No wonder my grandson George said "You would think it was real!" He hasn't seen this one yet. Are you coming to ExpoNG this year? Noel
@FeedScrn4 жыл бұрын
Excellent layout set.... It seems that one doesn't need 45 cars behind a loco to give realism... although 45 cars is a nice deal... no doubt. - The only question I have is this: Is it true that locomotives... especially older ones... can only go forwards?

Brilliant, the attention to detail is just astounding. Have always wanted to try narrow gauge and this really encourages me How you get the sounds in so well?
@tedpolet54313 жыл бұрын
I make up a sound track using Audacity to mix various sources. This is timed to the video using Virtualdub, which takes about one hour's work for each minute of video. After the sound track is completed, I remove all the original sound from the video and substitute the new track.

What a beautiful layout! Excuse my ignorance, but what is the difference between a steam team and a steam train?
@tedpolet54314 жыл бұрын
A steam tram was the predecessor of an electric or diesel-powered tram, usually running next to or in a public highway.

What chassis are you using in the saddle tank locomotive ?
@rhombagonVA8 жыл бұрын
That saddle tank looks remarkably familiar... Did you use a Kerr Stuart engine as the basis?
@tedpolet54318 жыл бұрын
The freelance saddle tank was made from a 3D printed body shell designed by Tom Bell (Tebee Models). It is indeed loosely based on a Kerr Stuart.
@rhombagonVA7 жыл бұрын
Mind if I inquire about the motor? I'd like to get into 009, and don't know where to start in terms of locomotives.
@tedpolet54317 жыл бұрын
The saddle tank is powered by a Kato 11-104 chassis. The model was made for an 11-103, which is slightly shorter but has the same power unit. The side skirts hide the unnatural wheelbase.

Incredible, really realistic! Where did you get your trains?
@tedpolet54318 жыл бұрын
+Sir_Fedora - more than minecraft! Most of the trains were kitbashed or scratchbuilt. A few are ready-made models, such as the Fourdees Glyn Valley locomotive.
@j-moarts36518 жыл бұрын
