So cool to see it all tested out, what a synth.

Seeing how James "dissects" the synth and isolates faults without even opening it up never ceases to amaze. Essentially the entire signal path is in his head 🤯

It's amazing that the electronics are essentially the same components which televisions, printers, radios etc were made from at that time, yet those old TV's etc have long since become landfill; because these particular components made their way into legendary synths instead of tele's, they'll live forever! (well, not quite - but you know what I mean 😉).

Indeed. There's a whole thread to this that we're slowly unravelling - the preservation of "obsolete" tech and the knowledge of how to keep it working goes way beyond just the equipment it's inside, or the minority of people that get to use it...

that's a lot of corrosion! Pretty awesome find and a testament to Yamaha engineering.

Shocking isn't it? This is a mix of phone footage filmed for Instagram - the main sections where we examine/test is landscape - sorry we didn't have budget for a crew on this one.

while I do get the criticism @@Soundgas every documentation is better than no documentation, don't let this descourage you in any way shape or manner :)

The landscape version is luckily available on Soundgas website
