Have agree on the Ortofon Blue, odd I know but I liked it better then the Bronze. Bronze was digital sounding with my McIntosh set up. The blue had a much warmer sound yet still had all the detail. I can see why it’s a big seller. 😎

Thank you. I have a 1970's cs721. I'm looking at the cs618q for another room. You think the 618q would be a good choice. Oh, I did purchase the cs429 fully automatic for my daughter last year. She's new to records, figured a fully automatic would be the best choice. It functions really well, really quiet operation. Although I'm not a huge fan of the 2m red, it seems grainy.

@@AudiophiliaChannel This is from Dual. I asked about a possibility of cs718 this year, this is what I received. “Actually there will be no plan for a CS 718 in 2023!....we got insolvency 10 weeks ago, so today we do not know how it will go on!” Sounds like Dual may be in trouble.

Thinking strongly about purchasing this model Dual but would like to know if the direct drive motor in this dual is as stong and good as the Techinics SL-1500C direct drive motor and is this Dual now being built in Germany ?. Also does the automatic shut off at the end of a record on this Dual work flawlessly unlike on other turn tables like the Fluance RT-85 that fails more often than when it works ?.

The Dual is a very good turn table. I tested it a while ago, automatic shut off worked fine. Quality overall is good, even though with the new investor all Dual turntables will be produced in China. In the past, the higher quality models with "CS" in the name were made in Germany and all the cheap DUAL models with DT in the name were produced in China. (But what isn´t? Right, the Technics 1500c is made in Malaysia). The last top models Made in Germany are the Dual CS 600 and 600mk2 (and the CS 800). I went with the Technics, but only because I got a really good deal from a friend. I like the Technics (the tonearm lift is a bit odd though) but this Dual is really really nice.

Thank you! I'm between Technics sl-1500c and Dual 618q. Both have strong and weak points. What would be your advice given every day listening using active speakers? And what device is more robust and durable in long term?

They are included, but most audiophiles eschew them during playback because of “ringing”. Degrades the sound.

a turntable only doesn´t have auto-return for working purposes, the reason why i sold both of my SL-1200MKII that i used since 79 till early 2000´s at the time both were perfect with extra concorde cartridges and needles in the box and the original professional from technics and the most i could get was 500€ for all, today and better some years ago they called it a audiophile turntable a guy that was maybe too young saying that they were only built for audiophiles ,that for professional use it was a myth ,i only replied where there were on-line free catalogues and told him to read the 72 technics catalog, i remenber some self called audiophiles saying that it was not a good turntable, only to work not to enjoy music and in reality technics had much better turntables even personalized ones for every taste

The Dual is not made anymore in the blackforest. All these new models bearing the CS in the name are mostly built in china. Why? Since the 90‘s the company alfred Fehtenbacher produced the original Dual Record Players in St. Georgen in the blackforest. This is where Dual originated from. They produced legends like the CS504 and developed new models like the CS600 MKII or CS800. When the license holder stopped the agreement to produce their own Players with the CS in the name, Fehrenbacher who builts now for Pro ject sells the „original“ Dual turntables under the name rekkord audio. You just habe to look at the tonarm to identify an „old“ dual built by fehrenbacher. An when you look at pro ject look for the automat series, these are also Dual‘s from Fehrenbacher but improved full automatic turntables.

These Duals are made in Asia and only apply the Brand Name licensed to the producer by its owner DGC hq in Landsberg am Lech, not the Black-Forest home region of the former Dual. The real DUAL manufacturing was recently until final collapse Oct-2023 as Rekkord Brand. Alfred Feickenbacher or so. So for now Dual is just a soul-less License. Thorens is a hollow little company, too.
