btw the Cromwells turret armour is actually 13mm thicker all round than it says ingame, it has a 13mm internal "shell" where the riveted external armour you see ingame is mounted onto. Dosent change a whole lot, but the armour is a bit better than it seems and its just a unique design

I don’t know about anyone else’s experience, but for its BR the Cromwell is surprisingly survivable, especially compared to other British tanks. Its armors not good on paper, but it’s worked pretty well for me when Ive played it. The 57mm Cromwell 1 is the one to play though. Edit: I bought the RP-3 Cromwell on discount, it’s a fun tank. The rockets can be a little unpredictable if the tank is on any kind of incline though.

I've been asking my friends who are actually good at the game, and your main problem in this thing is STUGs, which are very difficult to kill unless you hit the port shot. Either gun will kill it so it really doesn't matter which shell it is. The 57mm is faster firing and more accurate (stabiliser), so Britain players who have already given up on the one shot dream generally do better in the Mk. 1. If you want solid shot one shots you play France. Lean into the strengths and accept the weaknesses. The pen advantage means you can get smaller faster firing guns that can pen just as well and don't suffer from volumetric as much.

the armor on the cromwell is also a bit misleading, atleast the turret is as its doubleplated with the riveted plates on top of a i think 13mm internal plate which can catch a good amount of medium pen shells like russian guns, that and the general speed of the cromwell combined with its square shape makes shells that dont hit square on typically bounce off, not as much as the t-34 ofc but it definitely helps

Do bring out the 6-pounder Cromwell too some time. It does have stabilized gun as you said and even better power/weight ratio. I love to take that out together with the 47mm Tempest V, which is a beast on its own - it may be solid shot, but it's 36 big, high-pen rounds *per gun* mounted on a fast aircraft (duh, it's a Tempest at 3.7). It has great staying power and if you have allies that can clean up after you, it really can turn matches.

Honestly it would be historically accurate for Cromwells to get recon - they outfitted the Armoured Recce Squadron of British armoured brigades. Certainly would make more sense than many vehicles which get recon despite never really being used for a recon role. I'd also love to see the Sherman/Firefly 'Tulip' in game. Basically this same concept but with only 2 RP-3s, they were actually used in combat and crews described them as wildly inaccurate but extremely good at suppressing enemy AT guns all the same

That KV-2 was probably using one of the SAP-HE shells instead of HE. HE would probably have nuked you from existence, but it looked to me like the SAP-HE was fired poorly and ricocheted off your front plate that was incredibly angled to him.

The Sea Hurricane Mk IC is actually pretty fun if you know how to fly them, but it struggles more than a spitfire when facing multiple opponents. I'd like the Hurricane Mk IIC as it'd maintain the four cannons while also having some bombs.

the secret to good cromwell performance is using its decent speed and acceleration to find a good spot to wait in ambush, pick your moment, and the rush people from the side or back. It's not a medium tank, it's a light with weight issues and no spotting.

I love playing the Cromwell RP-3. It takes a lot of practice to get used to angling the rockets. I find the best tactic is to disable with the solid shot then finish off with the rocket. They all fly in slightly different directions too, so knowing which one is firing is essential for accuracy.

I always liked the Calliope more if I want to play with rockets. Even if they’re not great for getting kills all the time, they make a great smoke screen when needed. Being able to aim them helps too. I think they had strapped these to Firefly Sherman’s too, sad to see there isn’t one of them to play with.

You should revisit the French LVT 4/40. It was an overpowered monster on release at 2.3, and now it sits at 3.7. side note, its very fun to bait planes with the 40mm then when they dive on you unleash the coax twin 50 cals

For my tank suggestion I'd like to see the Magach 3 (ERA). I've never seen anyone use it or talk about it for quite a long time now, but my personal experience with it is that it's can be quite a survivable bunker with ERA at 8.0.
