I dreamt about you last night. And I fell out of bed twice... The dream has gone, but the baby is real enough. Yeah, Morrissey nicked these - and a lot of other sentences - from this play and used them for his songs for The Smiths. Thanks for the upload! Had the film, but lost it. Teenage Jo struggles to find love against the gritty backdrop of the impoverished north of England She falls for a sailor, but things are complicated by the racial mores of the time (he isn't white; Jo is) and Jo is left alone and pregnant. She goes to live with her homosexual male friend, who offers to marry her. Will Jo ever find the one thing she needs the most: love and stability? Or will she become a carbon copy of her promiscuous, alcoholic mother?
