New to the channel but I must say, in my opinion it's the best. The solo trips and those with your buddies are great but the ones with the two of you are precious. My wife and I are tent campers and we tend to take way more than we need for the 8 to 10 days we schedule every summer. I recently purchased and old Army surplus canvas hammock with integrated bug net and fly. I have not even had the chance to hang it for the first time as yet. I started to research hammock camping on KZbin and found a wealth of videos and informative channels, some better than others and hence the compliment, well done with a perfect blend of entertainment, adventure and information.

Nicely done. I don't get to the east coast, being short of funds and in the middle of the country, so your images are outstanding, in my book. The fact that you two like each other makes the journey so much the better.

Hi, I found your channel by accident, and I like it pretty much. I have been owner of the Draumr 3.0 since more than a year and I spent many nights into it. I think that's the best hammock I have ever had. And the comfort is worth carrying the additional weight which is not that much compared to other hammocks with traps. Thanks for this video. I enjoyed it very much. Best regards from Germany Thomas

Cool! I drove to my Grandparents this winter from Texas to Virginia and I stopped by the exact bridge and parking lot from the beginning! I was there a couple of months after you, but I freaked out a little bit when I recognized the one section of the AT I knew. That bridge made for some great pictures too

Hey Sintax! I just wanted to say that you're my absolute favorite KZbinr! Your content is always exciting, your editing has blossomed, and you continue to put out excellent videos. Videos like this of you and your wife going on amazing trips are my favorite and they help me a lot when i'm feeling down or longing for a trip when I can't get away. You have helped me through some tough times last year when I caouln't stand to sit in silence for more than 30 seconds. I'd listen to your audio while driving, and that was always a big help! Thank you. Have a great day!

I bought this great hammock 2 months ago. i really love it. I sleep better than i do at home. My shoulder did't hurt me in this hammock. I use the Exped DownMat 7 LW in it, this setup give me a four session hammock. No need to have pillow with me. Remember to hold on to the ridge line when go in to it, my first time give me a sling out and landing on my head. That hurt.... :-)

Great video. I also bought one of the cheap stoves. They also make one with a little larger burner that spreads the flame out a more. My dad has one like you have and the flame is more concentrated. I have used my stove several times and it works as good as my old Bluet stove did. I plan on taking a trip to the Massie Gap area from Ohio in a couple of weeks and that is the only stove I"m taking.

+NorwegianWoods In the end, the rain didn't really affect our spirits too much. Luckily, it never really opened up too much, so it mostly just added a bit of character. And I agree with you on the Amok. While I was certainly a bit skeptical in the beginning, it's a pretty cool, unique piece of gear, and I'm happy to have it as part of my backpacking arsenal.

You guys should get a little NOAA weather radio or a ham radio so you can get the weather on trips like this if your out of range of cellular. I use mine all the time and it's been so helpful knowing the weather and what may be coming up so we can properly prepare before it hits.

I've just been catching up on all your videos the past couple of months. I was just at this parking area this weekend on the AT!! We hiked north on the AT up to Johns Hollow and set up camp. Then up to Fullers Rocks--a favorite trip of ours. We passed Eskimo (coleregulates on KZbin--he has been posting a few videos of his SOBO hike) and two other SOBOs. I think a lot of folks do not stay at Johns Hollow or Matts Creek because they are pushing to get into Glasgow to resupply. Glasgow has a great little shelter right there in town with power and a microwave. I've never been south of the Foot Bridge. Great trip. Really enjoying your videos.

great video!! I have an Amok as well as a DH sparrow. I like them almost equally. I favor my Dream Hammock just a little. The difference is something you touch on, which is the weight of the Draumr and a good pad. It's a bit on the heavy side. I'm glad to see Amok getting more popular though. It's a great system. Glad you had a good trip and thanks for the video!!

sooooo....my wife suddenly wants to try hammock camping with me....she is not "not" outdoorsy, but she always hated sleeping in a tent, and wants to try hammock camping. So, we shall see....yall have fun, which is fun to watch. The Amok is intriguing...I might spring for one for kayak camping...I note the total cost of the system is something on the order of 500-600 dollars...tarp, insulation, hammock, suspension, guylines, all of it...compared to my hammock with UQ and tarp, its pretty close. may ask santa for one, who knows...kinda doubt it, but floating the idea in my head - ill need another setup to include both my wife and my son (age 6).

On the amok hammock, what do you think, is this a 4 season hammock? I don't see how to add a under quilt, or would you just used a good sleeping bag and pad? Also what did you think about the tarp? Would you try a bigger one? I like this style of hammock, however never slept in one, but this one appeals to me, if this was going to be my shelter I would want it to be all season. My son is wanting one, and I thought I get him a eno, but which one, I would like to find one so he can slide his pad under him also. Like the amok. Any help would be grateful since you do this I trust you.

Nice vid as always with lots of great info... I just ordered a Gregory Stout 35 weekender and will let you know how it is when I get to try it out.. New to all this and figured I would start small.;) That hammock looks crazy and though I may not go with that one I do like the idea of a not over the top priced one. A double sounds good and any suggestions for this newbie? My old bones do also like to be comfortable TY and you amazing bride for taking us along... Mickey

+Mickey B Thanks, Mickey. Are you leaning towards a double for the ability to slide a pad in between the layers or simply to have a hammock with less stretch and load tolerance? Both are solid reasons for a double, but if you're not worried about using a pad in between the layers, there are some heavier grade fabrics out there now days that would do just fine as a single layer, which would save you a few extra $$ compared to a double layer system.

Thanks for the quick reply. My old bones are probably looking for a pad so as I figured a double might be it. I am real new to all this and your vids have really helped.. I want to thank Mike aka TK for the fine dining dish suggestion. I like free and light.. Stay safe and where is the pup? Ever up in Ma/NH give a shout out and burgers are on me. ;)

Sintax, My wife and I are taking a trip to Rocky Mountain National Park this year for the first time. It will be her first time overnight hiking. Can you ask Sarah what she thinks about rain pants or skirts? Should she not worry about it and just take a rain jacket or should I worry about getting her some bottoms?

+I Mess Sara has a pair of Frogg Toggs rain pants that came along with the jacket as well for like $20 that she packs on cooler weather trips where rain is expected. If it's warmer, she'll usually just bring the jacket only and just let her hiking pants get wet as they dry pretty quick in the summer. The Frogg Toggs pants aren't very tough, in fact they are borderline disposable, but they are ridiculously light, breathable and cheap so we usually just throw those in the pack. She hasn't tried the rain skirt before, but it seems interesting and simple to get on and off. I'll have to ask her what she thinks about it trying one some time.
