Normal? Yes. Healthy? No. Shaming a kid for underperforming isn't okay, regardless of context. It's funny here because it's a comedy skit, but irl that teacher could get in some really serious trouble for talking to a student like that. The correct response would be to get the kid some help so that they understand that their advances are wrong and could get the teacher in a lot of trouble while reinforcing that the kid is gonna be okay. Of course, that would only be in a society where mental health is taken seriously...which is currently none on the planet.
@Theoanno7
@Theoanno7 4 жыл бұрын
@@himi6536 How is this a mental health issue? This kid needs a reality check not medication. Smh. This is part of the reason why society's attitude towards mental health is so warped. Bad behavior and lack of discipline does not equate to mental health issues.

@@himi6536 while agree that IRL shaming the kids intelligence isn't correct. The teen doesn't need mental help just b/c they're attracted to their teacher. You can be a teacher at age 21/22. If an 18 yr old hits on a 23/24 year old would you say the 18 yr old needs help? The teacher has responsibility to deny their advances and if they continue its a convo about sexual harassment and boundaries.

OMG, this is Ms. Parham, my math teacher from 8th grade! She was a young, gorgeous black woman whom the boys loved and the girls wanted to be. She was also tough as nails. I got my only detention from her, because I threw a book at the creepiest boy in class over something he said about her. She let me know, she didn't need my "help" and gave him a very embarrassing dressing down in front of the whole class that sounded a lot like this! I still got in trouble, because that book whomped him in the head pretty hard. It was SOOOOO worth getting detention!

@@jp9707 well it's clearly some new people because SNL hasn't been funny in a long time outside of Chappelle's recent sketches. You should be able to look up sketch writers the same way you hear a song you like and want to know who wrote or produced it. No one ever says it may backfire what if it's a bad song. Everyone is not the same, some people are better than others, some people hear they suck and work hard to be better. Nobody is giving you a participation trophy for writing a joke. 90s Mad TV is still funnier than SNL. In living color is STILL funnier than today's SNL. Then you got funny people being directed by unfunny people, that's why everyone leaves. Sam Jay is hilarious then you put her in a room with people telling her what's funny and what's not and it doesn't work. Bring back Mad or In Living Color and SNL would get buried deeper than Melania Trump's happiness

I never understood that fantasy. My parents are teachers, so it feels like. . . bleargh, a gross gross GROSS fantasy to me, a violation of the teacher-student relationship. Two adults on, say, a college campus? Wait for the student to finish the class before even making a confession of attraction. Age gap? GROSS. WRONG. I hope my parents' students aren't undressing them in their heads, it's soooo wrong to sexualize the profession. Or desexualize it. But yeah, rant over.

You got that right! We aren't a monolith, yet one thing that is common among the vast majority of Black people (Black women, in particular) is that we tend to separate our business and personal lives. We don't go to work looking for friends and relationships like other women do. That's why you'll rarely see a Black woman teacher deciding to be a pedophile. She won't fuck up her money, her family or her life. Historically, Black Women have never had the luxury of doing selfish shit. We have to think about everything and every body; we think strategically. So the last thing we would do is screw somebody's child for a cheap 10 second thrill. 🙄

Also, I have not seen anyone mention it, but this is a spoof of the A Teacher drama miniseries on Hulu, with Nick Robinson and Kate Mara. Everything Ego did here is what should have happened in the show, lmao.

Yes! The comments here were discussing how funny it is but it seems like most of them haven’t even seen the actual show this is spoofing. Which makes this skit what it is. And although that’s a serious show this is spot on funny for the way it makes fun of A Teacher. But yes I noticed too that all these people who loved the sketch, don’t seem to have actually watched the show it’s mocking.
