A Textbook Bow Hunt in Caswell Game Lands

Join me on what I consider a "textbook bowhunt" for me on Caswell County, NC Game Lands on opening day of the 2019 Muzzleloader Season!
If you're a new bowhunter or want to get into bowhunting, this video illustrates the enjoyment, tactics and success you can have on public land if you plan ahead. What also makes this video interesting is that it was all self filmed with small, relatively inexpensive cameras. Using such filming techniques can add to your adventure and share with family and friends.
Many times, the journey is the memory, especially when we don't harvest game. For me, being out in Gods creation is what its all about...the harvest is the icing on the cake! So, go out and hunt on Public Land and take time to enjoy the journey! I wish you much success, and I'll see YOU...in the field!

I grew up hunting public land in Caswell Co. It was a great experience hunting there, and camping when they use to have the camping area and the lake. Not sure about it now, that was over 20 years ago. Many fun hunts there.

It looks like you decided to go with the tactacam over the sionyx aurora. Could you tell me why you chose the tactacam over the sionyx aurora? I was leaning toward the sionyx aurora after watching your video you posted a year ago.

Luke Dinnan that’s a good question. I actually had the Aurora with me, but it wasn’t time for me to mount it. Each camera has its place. My process is as follows: -Morning to dusk, I use the Tactacam. It’s 4K video and one touch turn on and better battery life. -If it’s threatening rain...again, the Tactacam is on, as it’s waterproof. -About an hour before dusk, I switch the Tactacam out for the Aurora. It’s the one to have for low light. Of you recall my video from a year ago, I contrasted the strengths and weaknesses of each camera. I use them both to their strengths. In this video, I didn’t use use the Tactacam footage as the GoPro MAX footage was better. I hope this helps clarify things. If I had to choose only one camera to buy, it would be the Aurora. It’s capability when I need it most is great and I can manage the other times. I just owned the Tactacam before I bought the Aurora. I hope that helps...I’ll see you in the field!!! I thought it was illegal to drive a motorized vehicle on caswell gameland??or is this private land close to public land?

Hey, Daniel! According to NCWRC Rules, only disabled hunters may utilize motor vehicles on state gamelands. They must apply for and be granted a permit to do so. Although I am a disabled veteran, I don’t have such a permit. All vehicle movement in this video was filmed on my farm that is adjacent to the gamelands. I drove to the border and began my walk from there. Good question - I wish you much success in 2021!

Hey, Bill! Sorry for the delayed response...somehow I missed your message. Yeah, my videos can be lengthy, but they are for me and for my family (when I’m gone). So I try to tell a story of sorts with each one. Looking back, I don’t disagree on the length...but this was my first outing with the 360 camera and I was kinda overly excited with the look of the footage. Lol In any case...thanks for the comments.
