Black eagle arrows are 33" and advertise that the .001 straightness is consistent end2end on uncut shafts. You have the length to shoot efoc arrows at "high" velocity. My specs are: rx1-ultra 30.5"/83lb 755gr 27%foc, 200 spine x-impact shafts @260fps. You should realistically match (or beat) my speed at 70lbs, with your added draw length. 552gr must be going like 300fps+ for you, because 615gr was going 285fps for me

I've learned the most from RF. Heavier arrows do damage and puts game down quickly. Heavy fixed blade weight forward arrows are the way to go. Even at a 50lb draw pass throughs are guaranteed with heavier arrows. Mass puts them in the grass.

I have a bunch of 4/5 mm arrows from 450 to 590 grains, and it's not as bad as you think if you practice a lot with those weights. Just got a new compound, gout victory rip tkos in 300sp, 75lb draw weight and 31” draw. I built my arrows at around 462gr. I have all 12 arrows within a .7gr range from high to low. I epoxied nails into the standard nocks to match the nocturnal nocks I’m using. I plan to shoot 100gr g5 montecs. I measured my FOC but can’t quite remember, I believe it’s 10-11%. 1) what’s your recommended foc? 2) how do I know where the switch point is in spine if based on arrow weight and foc? So if I want to get into the 550gr+ weight, at what point is my 300 spine too weak? 3) I have sparked an interest in the single bevel heads. Watching the potato test, I believe ranch fairy used inserts with bearings. If I wanted to shoot single bevels, would I need inserts with bearings? My bow clocks counterclockwise so I fletched with a counterclockwise helical. so I’d have to loctite any tips/broadheads. Is that sufficient or do I need to get different inserts. 4) I’ve never killed a deer in archery. Is a 462gr arrow with montecs a decent arrow? I just don’t want to wound/lose a deer because my arrow is too light
@jrhunt4147 ай бұрын
I’ve killed deer with a Rip 300 steel inserts and 125 Montecs. Does awesome. Big holes. Goes through bone on deer. Tough broadhead, easy to sharpen on flat stone. Stiff Light arrows with steel on the front work awesome. Get there faster too. I’ve shot all angles and even right through shoulders. Arrow tracks straight and goes into the ground on the other side.
@2012lucasb6 ай бұрын
462 grains is a good setup but at 75 lbs at 31" there's no way your 300 spines are stiff enough. You have plenty of poundage and draw to go heavier. You will have a quieter bow and still have great speed with a 500-550 grain arrow. You need to have 250 spines and you'll need to cut that 250 down even further if you go to 550 grains. Remember you really can't be too stiff but can absolutely be too weak. Alway air on the stiffer side. Paper tune and bareshaft tune your arrows.

Use the start by saying this is only if you shoot a deer 20 yd and under

You can shoot alot farther than you think with a heavy arrow but most whitetail hunters shoot 20 yards and less. The better hunter you become the closer the shots.

My longest kill with my 650 grain arrow was 62 yards, so it is pure nonsense that you can only shoot short distances with heavy arrows. I have never hit to high or to low because of my heavy arrows. I suggest someone need to learn more about archery.
