I feel like the clones are supposed to not be about Peppino BEING CLONED on the field, I think it represents the Mindset of a Soldier on a battlefield. Their visages are twisted and distorted, which is significant to how his memories could have warped over the years, unable to clearly remember the faces of all the people he's killed. The way they melt also signifies how in the moment? They just melted away. He _had_ to keep moving, he _had_ to keep fighting, that's how he was trained, and so they fell to the side only to be remembered later in the wake of his trauma. The fact they look LIKE HIM signifies how They were human too. They were no different than him. They weren't cheeseslimes, or mini johns, or pizzafaces, or _Monsters..._ They were just _People._ Like Him. Individuality be damned, factions be damned, this was *Human on Human warfare,* with _Countless. Needless. Deaths._ (106 (Very Cheesy!)) Pizzahead can lick my boot for putting that level in there man. I get it was like,,, the _last option_ for stopping Peppino but REALLY!? The significance of War as the very lastlevel is definitely intentional. The recreation of past trauma is one thing, but the inclusion of a bomb specifies that unlike the other levels, War was created specifically to kill Peppino. It's the only level in the game that CAN kill you. Every other one requires Pizza Face intervening.
