A time-lapse of the second year of our crocus lawn!
In 2021, we planted over 10,000 crocuses in our backyard in Zone 5b. All bulbs were planted 8-12 cm deep, around 15-20 cm apart. We used a tilling / drain shovel to make slots in the lawn and pushed the bulbs in by hand. It took around 16 hours to plant the entire lawn. We avoid walking on the lawn from when the ground thaws in the spring until they are done flowering and then wait until the end of May to cut the grass. For every one bulb planted in 2021, there were 1-2 flowers in 2022 and 2-5 flowers from each bulb originally planted. They do not self seed so they will stay contained to the lawn, hopefully for the next few decades!
