Come back in time with me and look back through photos of my dreadlock journey! Two and half years with dreadlocks and I have never loved my hair more! They have evolved so much! I am not sure anyone changes their locs as much as I do! I do love to add and remove extensions, don't I? Do you like to change yours often?

I wanted to share something with you I am experimenting with -- to add volume I do the one dread -- then I go back and add in the top or middle portion another human hair dread -- depending on like the top to give it a layered look too -- so far it works pretty nice. either longer or shorter -- these are not dreaded all the way down the one dread -- it is a split

First I want to say you have the most amazing smile! I watched this video twice to really take in what your journey was. I'm turning 65 in just a couple of months and I've felt a very strong call to get my hair locked. Unfortunately I have a health condition that I cannot hold my arms up for any amount of time, and we only have one person in our area who does them. I had gone in for a consult and was basically told I didn't have the hair for locks. But after watching several videos of yours and Liz Kidder's, I contacted the local guy and said I was determined and wanted to push forward and get mine started soon. After watching this video of your journey and hearing that you fight chronic pain, I was even more encouraged! Aty age I know I'm going to get even more reactions and primarily from my friends, but this is for a much deeper reason than just fashion. I can't tell you how grateful I am to have found your channel and how much I appreciate what you have to say. Btw, Liz is the reason I found your channel. I'll never get to meet either of you girls, but it is about community and sharing and every journey is unique. Thanks again!

Love it Liza. Thank you for sharing with us your journey and explain it. Sometimes we have no clue what is behind a picture, the story and what it involved. So many people want the “perfect” dreads right away because they see picture of mature locks and fall in love with those specific ones.... But it takes so many years to locks to mature and look that way! And it they grow so different on each one of us anyway! So glad that your concerns were mine too at the beginning! Now, 16 months later, I adore them... I wouldn’t trade them for anything in the world. They helped my grow my grey. Feel beautiful with my grey. I got asked not long ago: omg!! I so love the colors of your dreads!! Which hair colors you mixed to get that??.. And I was proud to answer: They are my very own! 🥰

So encouraging, thank you. I’m going to start locs by myself in about a month, and I was really nervous about the transition being horrible and taking two years like some people say, but yours seemed to look amazing from the beginning! I love your videos and seeing your style because it’s very close to mine!

Liza, WoW!! Awesome journey video...looking back to the very beginning of your journey I see we have like exactly the same hair and I was skeptical to get my dreads but see now how beautiful they can be even with thin, fine hair. OMG I'm so excited now to start my journey. I was determined to get locs, always admired them and intrigued by them. When I would see a woman with dreads I would think "I want those"...well,I have an appt with a loctition I met at the renaissance festival who has beautiful locks..what luck to run into her..I commented her locs and she said she specializes in them and gave me her card. We set an appt October 9th which is where my journey will begin....so thankyou for this video showing me your gorgeous dreads, they are truly some of the most beautiful I've seen in watching numerous videos..You belong with those babies and I believe I will too. CAN'T WAIT!!🥰👾🧖‍♀️🦋🌻

I love that you have extensions! I have super short dreads and I hate them. I can't wait for them to grow. I really am enjoying the journey with extensions and I know someday when my dreads are long enough I won't have to use extensions. Maybe someday I will miss them :)

I absolutely love this video. I wish now that I’m 7 months in, that I would have kept more of a video journal of my journey. I bet it’s so cool to look back at all the changes and ‘bumps’ along the way lol I have a ton of pictures though, luckily that I’ve timestamped on my way. It’s so cool seeing someone like you, that has come so far on their journey’s video. I really and truly appreciate your channel more than you’ll know. Your videos have kept me sane through this journey, in both the good times, and the times I wanted to literally pull my hair out HA HA! I credit you a whole lot with why I made it (mostly) through that extremely awkward time, and I also learned to love my frizzy, messy locs. That means the world to me. Thanks for making me realize that I don’t need to religiously crochet and maintain my hair. It’s made me start to LOVE this more than I ever thought I could have. You’re truly an inspiration to anyone who’s new to the loc game ❤️❤️

Agree. Everyone's journey is different. I always tend to do freeform cause that my way. Even if I sell seperated my locs I still prefer no matinence method. But to each their own. Guess I enjoy the freedom that comes with not having to "do" my hair everyday.

I had a consultation with a loctitian and she told me she could loc my hair OR install extensions, not both. I have to reinstall the extensions every 6 weeks, max. The start right at the scalp. As my hair grows she said it would be impossible to join my natural hair to an extension and let it grow out together. Like the joining place is impossible to hide. Any advice? It sounds like you did what I want, as well as others in the comments. There's really only one loctitian within 100 miles (Eastern OR), but maybe I need a new person?

I have around 8 inches of dreadlocks on my head right now. My Natural hair. I’m 7.5 months into having them. I started out with extensions but they weren’t real hair extensions and that bugged me. But now I’m considering doing extensions again. I would love some advice on what type I should do! I wanna keep my dark hair and maybe do an ombré to a lighter blond at the ends (maybe). Anyways. Let me know if you have any advice on what I should do! I would prefer permanent extensions.

My fiancé gave me dreads, i love them but i get worried that they wont look good because he didn’t section them right. Some are thicker than others and he just didn’t section them right. I get pissed about it sometimes but it is what it is. As they grow and mature im hoping they will look okay. Im 5 months in. Is it okay if the sectioning isn’t quite right?
