This is a phenomenal tutorial. I'm prepping to do a spiral perm on my own hair having never done a perm on anyone before. She really helped clarify many things other stylists have said about the wrapping process, because she tells you WHY. I can tell from this one video that she's a great teacher and she really knows what she's talking about. Thank you!!

Thank you for this. ❤ I hate papers! Also, why do this on washed wet hair? And another question. What perming lotion do you use on long spiral perm for maximum coverage? Equally? Also, do you wash out the perming lotion with the curlers still in? Yhank you

That is a candlestick roll...NOT a spiral
@chrisisrogue9 ай бұрын
Spiral means the way it is wrapped, such as a spool of thread, it is spiraled to the spool. But yes in a roller set it is called a candlestick or vertical.

Great video, only part I wish, Would've been to show how to do the rollers for the front to part which way your hair is going to lay. But other than that, I enjoyed the tutorial. I'm not a stylist, I'm just someone who wishes to try doing a home spiral, how and where to place the rods. With also a right part at front. Ty

The main thing to remember in any spiral wrap is to cautious on the rods around the frontal fringe area because when you saturate you truly want to make sure it does not get into the clients eyes. The variables are in the hair length and if the client wears bangs and wants them curled. Good Luck, hope this helps.

Thank you for your video. I know it was a few years ago but I’ve contemplated doing mine at home as I deal w chronic pain. I bought the perm rods, the perms itself, the papers etc. Only problem is, I’m having a hard time finding someone to come to my home to do it. I’ve said I’ll pay for their time etc but ppl are quoting the same cost as if I was in their chair. Ugh. But thank you, very informative.
As much information as some other pros have given in perm tutorials, I really have to say, she is giving the most *detailed* information out of anybody.

i´m thinking about using perm rods for a non permanent style..once a week? Would you recommend it or is it to much work? I want a very defined curl on fine hair natural 2c-3a. On Afro hair the orange rods look the best. But on my "normal" hair...do you think the orange ones would give me a loose curl? should i takewhite and purple as you, if?
@chrisisrogue2 жыл бұрын
You could do that if you want to take the time, but maybe get larger sections and use hair spray before you wrap the dry hair. But then again doing this on wet hair it would be wise to use a Paul Mitchell moisturizing mousse. Good Luck and yes it will give a nice curl

If you have long hair how often can you get a perm? Or are you even supposed to Reperm long hair?
@chrisisrogue9 ай бұрын
yes you can reperm long hair, however in the wrap it is wise to do a piggy back spiral, when you do this then you would only saturate the hair at the scalp and only slightly and I mean slightly saturate the hair on the ends and that could be bone and left on for only and about 5 minutes because the cuticle is weaker.

I told the girl who had been doing my hair for awhile that I’d like to have a Spiral perm. The rods were all wrapped vertical and she set me under the dryer for a bit. When it was finished it looked really nice. A year and a half later, I asked her to do another one for me. She used the same color rods, but wrapped them All horizontally. When I asked if this was a Spiral, she said, yeah- I wrapped the back spiral, but sides like this … ?? Then she used a hand held blow dryer (Hot heat) to dry it for a few minutes. The curls were totally different than any the previous time, didn’t stay curly very long at all. I didn’t like it near as much. I’ve never seen this done before. Is this a common way to do a Spiral or was she maybe just talking a lot of short cuts? I’m really curious why the big change from one time to the next…
@chrisisrogue2 жыл бұрын
The reason it is called spiraled is because it is suppose to look like a spool of thread. Un-wide a spool of thread and you will understand.

Nothing wrong with perming fine/thin hair. It’s how to get volume.
@chrisisrogue2 жыл бұрын
Correct it does give volume but the re-perm is more where the damage is done. We have to take pre-caution with the perm on top of perm. Fine haired clients should always use professional product to maintain at home.
