For the folks who seem to think tools are "expensive", try breaking down without them! Everything Scott showed in the video (and more) could be purchased for what the tow will cost. Some things I would add to the mix: 1) hands-free light 2) Infrared temp gun, 3) waterproof ground cloth (learned this the hard way), 4) steel-toe shoes, mechanic coveralls, shatterproof eye protection and "Mechanix" gloves.

As a bus mechanic of over 40+ years, I repaired many buses broke down on the road. Pipe thread plugs for capping off lines. 1/8” thru at least 1”. And I would carry a cheap 12 volt clicky/clacky fuel pump, or better yet plumb one into the supply side if your fuel system. A lot of bus manufacturers had this as an option. That way in the event you run out, or when you change fuel filters you can run the pump and fill the fuel system and get the air out without cranking the engine. If your bus has DD3 brake chambers, carry an extra diaphragms and clamps, pretty tough to find on the road, but easy to find a shop to change if you need it.carry extra belts and hoses too.

And asked him to repeat and he said your his son! I told him I have been watching your videos for years and am impressed how thorough you are! Years ago I drove motorcoach buses and semi and was a semi truck inspector and you are going above and beyond and all mechanics should be that way

very good advice and chuckle point between 4:54 and 5:54 always have something solid the vehicle is resting on, and never rely upon air bags nor hydraulics to support it alone. always have physical stands and support to hold the weight and as a secondary backup, leave the hydraulic jacks just touching or add other safety stands. three minutes of time may save you an remaining lifetime of pain or your families crying over your death...

Another awesome and very USEFUL video Scott! Something I have been waiting for you to do is a full video on how to properly jack and support a bus. What works and what doesn't work? What block sizes and combinations do you use? What are some of the difficulties you may face on different buses? What to do and what NOT to do. How about how to level a bus when camping on uneven surfaces? Maybe you already have done some of these, but I haven't been able to find anything. Thanks again for your AWESOME channel!

Thanks for the vid, as an automotive engineer for almost 50 years I have a really good took kit, even so I still found a few things on here that I will add as almost all of my experience was on cars & small commercial vehicles, I did some work on the older heavy trucks with two stroke diesles but that sure was a long time ago, one of the things that worries me the most is getting stuck in traffic somewhere & blocking a roadway so appreciate all the ideas & suggestions you guys make to help us. Thanks so much.

The 301 piece kit is great, I got one for my Father maybe in 2016 or thereabouts. My only gripe is that the 1/4" sockets use an adapter rather than a 1/4" ratchet! Also 2 of the 1/2" sockets were identical size, I went back and they just swapped it with another socket in another kit, so some poor soul will end up with the same issue we did!

Add a 4X8 sheet of plastic cardboard. You can cut it to whatever size you want. It is thin and keeps you off the ground, water, and cold. Weights nothing and you can just wash dirt off. (or wipe oil off)

Addition - HF makes an extendable ratchet, in 1/2 drive and a 3/8 - 1/4 combo. Those come in really handy for when you need a little extra torque and you don't have a breaker bar.

I live in Canada so we do not have access to Harbor Freight tools but i have heard some not so good things about Harbor Freight tools. The Icon line I hear is really good. But personally I think if you spend a little more money you can get a lot better quality tools. Gear Wrench makes some fantastic tools. I have worked on my own vehicles for the last 38 years and I tried the cheap tools and I spent more time running back and forth replacing the cheaper tools. I have used nothing but Gear Wrench sockets, ratchets, wrenches and such for the last 8 - 10 years and I have yet to break any of their tools. This is just my opinion and my experiences over the last 38 years.

horrible fright, is what I've called them for years. because everything has to be "taken with an grain of salt". that said, I still buy from them and sometimes returned items(that clearly were fine/idiots used once. it cannot be helped when idiots break/abuse things and return/exchange them. I mainly buy and do not return anything, unless it's actually trash or sometimes job leftover I bought in advance, so I didn't have to waste hours running for cheap materials($150 or less). anything from 6 to 14 hour work window and they have to be open to public again(mom/pop stores). same applies years of neglect and disrepairs, means multi-hour/day/week/month/year jobs! and high costs beyond what the equipment is worth.
